5 Dangerous Side Effects of Following the Keto Diet, According to Experts | The State

The fact that a diet or diet focused on losing weight “This fashionable”, I do not want to say that be healthy neither long-term sustainable. The truth is that currently with so many stimuli and information at our fingertips, it becomes complicated make the best decisions.

Recently the popularity of the keto diet has grown by leaps and bounds and without seeing it coming overnight, she became one of the most famous weight loss trends in the world and with the largest number of followers. Although there are some scientific references what endorse certain benefits, recently being classified as one of the worst alternatives; because of his lack of balance and poor long-term viability, we know that not everything is sunbeams and descending digits on the scale.

In fact, this high-fat, low-carb eating plan it has a dark side. Although it is true that its effects may vary depending, especially in the cases of diabetes and high cholesterol. Experts agree that there are some side effects short term, seriously unpleasant and even dangerous.

1. Thinking can get confusing

Without a doubt one of the aspects most outstanding of the ketogenic diet, is that manages to modify the body’s metabolism to a state of fat burning called ketosis This metabolic process occurs eliminating carbohydrates almost completely and focuses on the fat consumption. In such a way that by achieving the state of ketosis in the body, you can visibly generate big dividends to achieve rapid and effective weight loss. However, it is an aspect that can also influence the mental clarity And the reason is simple: a rapid reduction in carbohydrate intake results in a less glucose available to the brain, leading to that feeling of ‘Brain fog’ characterized by impaired thinking and concentration levels. It is also true that it is a symptom that usually disappears when the body gets used to it, which in fact happens in a relatively short time interval. The brain is capable of use ketones [un subproducto de la grasa] to get energy in absence of carbohydrates. The mental confusion generally resolves within a week.

2. You can lose muscle mass

It is true that there are different ways of go on the ketogenic diet, however it is worth mentioning that the true and original version: It’s not just low carb, it’s also quite low in protein. It is a fact that this translates into weightloss, however it will not only be in body fat; therefore it is also presented loss of muscle When protein intake is so low, it is natural that there is a loss of muscle mass, even in the cases of people who exercise regularly. Without a doubt it is one of the consequences of the keto diet what more worries specialists, since in most cases people do not realize the decrease in muscle mass well they are very excited losing weight. Therefore, nutritionists recommend performing a modified ketogenic diet, which is not so low in protein and foods such as fish and Greek yogurt. Finally pYou may not achieve ketosis, but that is not necessarily a bad thing, you will most likely get good results.

3. Digestive and intestinal conditions

Eliminating carbohydrates deprives us of others essential nutrients important, as is the particular case of the fiber. Without the consumption of best sources of fiber, which are obtained through the consumption of fruits, vegetables, beans, and grains, it’s very probable that The digestion is made more clumsy and slow. While occasional constipation it does not usually present significant health problems, over time it can create harmful conditions such as abdominal pain, bloating, hemorrhoids, and intestinal obstruction. For those who usually suffer from constipation when carrying out this type of plan, the recommendation is drink a lot of water and above all you must make carbohydrates count when choosing foods high in fiber and low in carbohydrates as berries, avocados and walnuts

4. Blood glucose levels can be altered

One of the great virtues with which the ketogenic diet, are its benefits to stabilize blood sugar. It even has clinical evidence, which positions the ketogenic eating plan as an eating style that might improve glycemic control after about four months. However, it is worth mentioning that the ketogenic diet and diabetes are not always a good combination, especially for people who take medications to lower glucose. With the combination of these types of foods and a low carbohydrate diet, there is a risk that the level of sugar in the blood dangerously low to hypoglycemia.

5. You may experience alterations in mood

In the last years se has checked the direct relationship between food and mood, Both as for well and for worse. It is also true that there are foods that make us feel “happier” and without a doubt in the first place are the carbohydrates and sugars, in such a way that depriving the body of them can occur with marked mood swings. The reason is simple cWhen the brain detects less blood sugar for power, this can affect mood and result in a feeling of irritation, fatigue and difficulty concentrating. Also actively involved feelings of restriction wave inability to socialize When following a Keto diet, it has been reported that in some cases people tend to feel more sad.

After years of following pro sports, League of Legends esports leagues are ‘finally free to be ourselves’

For years, competitive gaming has done its best to mimic professional sports, whether it’s players wearing Nike jerseys, big-name celebrity investors, or ambitious plans for home-and-away games. But Chris Greeley, commissioner of the League of Legends Championship Series — the game’s top professional league in North America — believes that esports has moved beyond mimicking existing sports.

“We had this idea in the beginning that, because esports is a sport, and we wanted to be taken seriously, we should look like a sport,” he tells The Verge. “The LCS looked like the NBA on TNT. It was great for validation and for investors and sponsors to look and say ‘Hey, this looks just like a sport, therefore this is an easy translation.’ But we’ve outlived that.”

So starting in 2021, the league is making some big changes, both in terms of how it looks and how it’s structured. “We feel like we’re finally free to be ourselves,” Greeley says.

The most obvious change is visual. The league has a new logo — it’s a crystal made of the letters LCS — and a refreshed graphic design for broadcasts. Whereas the previous logo was a shield that wouldn’t have looked out of place in college football, the new one clearly represents a video game. It follows similar redesigns for the other top League competitions around the world, including Europe, China, and Korea.

(Greeley says the logo has received a mixed reaction from fans so far — which was expected. “People hate change. We’ve seen it from pretty much every esports rebrand,” he says, adding “You don’t want [a logo that] looks like it came off of a can of soup. It has to be resonant.”)

The idea behind the refresh, he says, is to give the LCS its own distinct voice in an increasingly crowded field. “It’s not just about a new color or a new logo, but it really is about how we’re going to follow with our broadcast and our content,” he says. “You’re not going to tune in this week and see a finished product. We’ll be iterating over the next year or two, but I think this is a really great start.”

To go along with this, the LCS is also introducing some major format changes, with a bigger focus on tournaments, including one to kick off the year that starts on January 15th. Previously, the competition closely resembled something like the NFL, with a slate of regular season matches culminating in the playoffs; the best teams then moved on to international competitions. The goal is to find a balance between the thrill of knockout tournaments and the familiarity of regular season play. “Tournaments are exciting,” Greeley explains. “The problem is, if everything is a tournament, if everything is meant to feel exciting, then nothing feels exciting.”

Despite problems caused by the pandemic, the LCS — along with many other esports leagues — experienced tremendous growth in terms of viewership last year. But the league struggled on a competitive level. At the annual League of Legends World Championship, North American teams were far behind the competition and didn’t pose much of a threat to the big clubs from Europe, China, and Korea. Much of the blame was put on the region’s developmental scene. Instead of encouraging up-and-coming local players, many LCS teams relied on aging or imported stars.

The league is hoping to change that with a revamped amateur system, with the goal of opening things up, so that the developmental squads for each LCS team — known as academy teams — are able to play in different tournaments against other amateur and college teams. This will culminate in an end-of-year tournament called LCS Proving Grounds.

According to Greeley, these changes were in the works prior to Worlds — but the feedback was still welcome. “The criticism around the need for NA to make changes to develop players, that actually was satisfying to hear, because I knew this was coming,” he says of the amateur changes. “We hadn’t announced it, it was nearly final at that point, but we were just figuring out how we were going to roll it out. When you’re developing a solution, and then everyone stands up and says ‘We need a solution,’ and it’s done and ready to show, that’s actually a pretty good feeling.”

2021 will also see the league continue to operate remotely. Typically, LCS matches take place in a Los Angeles studio with fans in attendance. That obviously hasn’t been possible during the pandemic, but Greeley says that this could slowly change throughout the year. The first step is to get the broadcast team in the building, and the hope is that by the time playoffs come around, players can be present as well. Viewers, meanwhile, will likely have to stick to watching on Twitch and YouTube.

“We’re not rushing getting fans back into the arena,” Greeley says.

The famous businesswoman Kylie Jenner started 2021 with a cleanup on her Instagram account, where she stopped following several celebrities, including the singer Rosalía.

This purification took his followers by surprise, who began to suspect the reasons why Kendall Jenner’s sister would have stopped following celebrities like her friend Sofia Richie.

However, what caught the attention of his followers the most is that the reality star ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ gave him unfollow to the interpreter of ‘With height’, with whom he had struck up a good friendship and which he showed off through Instagram.

The creator of Kylie Cosmetics now he only follows 33 people, among which his sisters stand out, the occasional account of his fans, very close friends like Stassie Karanikolaou, and of course, the father of his daughter Stormi, Travis Scott.

Among the rumors of the reason for the unfollow of the 23-year-old businesswoman, and perhaps a possible breakdown of the friendship with Rosalía, are an alleged attack of jealousy after the publication of some stories of the Catalan tasting the alcoholic drink of Kylie’s ex, who would later share them on her account.

The two celebrities met after Travis’ collaboration with Rosalía on the song ‘TKN’, where Stormi even appeared in the music video. The relationship between the two celebrities seemed so good that the Kardashians even invited her to their Christmas dinner.

Currently, the socialite has 208 million followers on this famous social network.

Pedro Pascal posts Ted Cruz’s office number following deadly Capitol Hill attack

Pedro Pascal pointed the finger at Texas Senator Ted Cruz for the violent insurrection on Capitol Hill in a tweet shared Saturday.

The 45-year-old Mandalorian star shared the Republican senator’s phone number with his 741K followers as social media users blamed the politician for inciting the riot in the Capitol Building, which left five people dead, including one police officer.

Pascal may have had his eye out for Cruz, 50, after the senator panned his performance in Wonder Woman 1984.

Although some Twitter users initially thought he was doxxing Cruz by revealing personal information, Pedro only shared the publicly listed number for the senator’s central Texas office, located in Austin.

Prior to his post, Pascal seemed to be engaged with the riot in DC on his Twitter feed.

On Wednesday he tweeted, ‘What incredible, profound shame,’ presumably in response to the attack.

‘The world is watching and history is recording. This disgrace will be FOREVER IN THE BOOKS,’ he wrote on Thursday, followed by a New York Times article listing the 147 Republican elected officials who voted to overturn the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Although Pascal was clearly incensed by Republican politicians that had cheered on the armed crowd before their attack on the Capitol, he may have also been holding a grudge against Cruz for his withering Wonder Woman 1984 review.

In response to a Twitter user’s asking if anyone had seen the superhero film, he replied: ‘Sadly, yes. [10-year-old daughter] Catherine & I watched it last night. Gal Gadot remains terrific, but it’s by far Pedro Pascal’s worst performance,’ he wrote.

‘The script, was wooden, formulaic & silly (“look, a fully-fueled fighter jet just sitting there for us!”).

‘But, watching w/ your daughter is still fun!’ he added.

Cruz was among eight Republican senators that objected to Joe Biden’s victory in the November presidential election.

Cruz was lambasted by Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for his attempts to overturn the election.

She and other Democratic members of Congress have called on the senator to resign, claiming that his attempts to delegitimize the results of the election encouraged the pro-Trump mob to attack the Capitol.

Among the dead was one woman in the mob who was shot by a plain-clothes Capitol Police officer.

US Capitol Police officer DIES following MAGA mob riots at Congress marking the FIFTH death

A U.S. Capitol police officer has died Thursday after yesterday’s violent confrontations between cops and supporters of President Donald Trump, according to reports.

It is the fifth fatality reported after hundreds of Trump loyalists violently broke their way into the U.S. Capitol seeking to stop the certification of the election of Joe Biden.

The death of the officer was first reported by CNN who said it was confirmed by two Capitol Police sources. The name of the officer and cause of death is not known.

It came as the chief of the Capitol Police submitted his resignation on Thursday night after Nancy Pelosi and the union representing his officers called for him to step aside, following the total failure to protect Congress on Wednesday.

Trump supporters try to break through a police barrierWednesday at the Capitol in Washington. As Congress prepared to affirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, thousands of people gathered to show their support for President Donald Trump and his claims of fraud

Steve Sund, appointed to the role in June 2019, will step down on January 16 – four days before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

His resignation came after that of the Sergeant at Arms, Paul Irving – whose job it is to protect the House.

Four other deaths have stemmed from Wednesday’s unrest.

Ashli Babbitt, 35, was a 14-year air force veteran who was fatally shot in the chest by Capitol Police as she breached the the building.

A witness to the shooting suggested the San Diego local was shot by police when she tried to climb through a broken window to get into congressional chambers, and another said they saw other protesters trampled by the mob.

Maryland court records show Babbitt had run-ins with law enforcement before – despite being a respected 14-year Air Force veteran, described as a ‘boisterous firecracker’ by a fellow soldier.

She was previously prosecuted for reckless endangerment, malicious destruction of property and tampering with a car, and was the subject of two restraining orders, court records obtained by DailyMail.com reveal.

Babbitt was born Ashli Pamatian, and was recorded as living under that name in North Pole, Alaska in her early adulthood.

She joined the Air Force in 2006, first serving at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, where she met her first husband, Staff Sergeant Tim McEntee.

A January 2008 photo on the base’s website shows the couple with their adopted former military working dog, Sorbon.

Babbitt was later stationed with the DC Air National Guard from at least 2014, where she moved in with her future second husband Aaron in Huntingtown, Maryland.

But Maryland court records show the McEntees’ marriage didn’t end until August 2018 when they filed for divorce.

In June 2019, Babbitt married former Marine Sergeant Aaron Babbitt, who served from 2000 to 2005 according to his Facebook page.

The bereaved former soldier told KUSI News on Wednesday his wife was a strong supporter of President Trump and a great patriot to all who knew her. He did not respond to a request for comment from DailyMail.com.

An unidentified loved one sent Babbitt a portentous text message as she flew to DC for the protest, according to an apparent screenshot from her phone shared on social media.

‘Be safe. I cannot lose you,’ the sender wrote.

Babbitt texted back a selfie from her airplane seat wearing a ‘Trump 2020’ mask and wrote ‘Tons of trump supporters on my plane!!!! I’ll watch my 6’ – using the military term for looking out behind you.

Three others died after suffering medical emergencies.

Benjamin Phillips, 50, from Pennsylvania died after suffering a stroke; Kevin Greeson, 55, from Alabama suffered a heart attack ‘in the midst of the excitement’.

According to The Inquirer, he described the day as ‘the first day of the rest of our lives’.

‘They should name this year Zero because something will happen,’ his friends claim he said before the riot got underway.

Phillips founded the website Trumparoo, where Trump supporters can speak to each other, and organized transport for dozens of people to get to DC from Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

It’s unclear at what point in the day he suffered his heart attack, or if he was married or had children.

Greeson’s son announced his death on Facebook.

‘My dad had a heart attack yesterday and sadly passed away. We all loved him so much.

‘He was such a great man we all miss you so much. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers,’ he said.

Social media photographs show Greeson posing proudly with two AR-15 rifles. He regularly posted on the website Parler where he encouraged violence against Democrats.

Among recent comments was: ‘Let’s take this f*****g country BACK! Load your guns and take to the s streets.

‘Let’s give them a war… Democrats don’t have guns… we do.. bring your stick, I’m bringing my guns.’

He also tweeted that hydroxychloroquine was a known cure for COVID – which has not been proven.

His family however say he was not violent and was only there to show his support for Trump.

‘Kevin had a history of high blood pressure, and in the midst of the excitement, suffered a heart attack.

‘Our family is devastated.

‘We are thankful for all of the thoughts and prayers and appreciate privacy at this time as we grieve,’ they said.

It’s unclear if the two men were among the violent mob who stormed the building.

Roseanne Boyland, 34, from Georgia was ‘trampled in the Rotunda’, her family told DailyMail.com on Thursday after police she had been potentially ‘crushed’ in the mob.

Her family said she had planned to ‘hang back’ but was emboldened by Trump’s speech earlier on Wednesday.

‘This was her first one. She wasn’t even supposed to go… we all didn’t want her to go. She was hanging back and then after the speech yesterday,’ the relative said.

‘They’re still working on [the details]. Someone said she was trampled, others said she collapsed…. we’re still trying to figure it out.’

Her brother-in-law, Justin Cave, said the rally cost her her life.

He blames Trump for her death.

‘Roseanne, like a lot of people there, was really passionate about her beliefs as was her right.

‘I personally believe that the President incited a riot that cost four of his biggest fans their lives. One of them happened to be my sister.

‘I personally believe we should invoke the 25th amendment.’

In a statement that he read aloud, he said: ‘Our family is devastated by the loss of Roseanne. She was a wonderful sister, daughter and aunt. Anyone who knew her knows how compassionate she was.

‘She would always put others before herself. As we watched these awful events unfold, we hoped that Roseanne was not among the crowd.

‘Tragically, she was and it cost her her life,’ he said.

A witness who was inside the Capitol with protesters on Wednesday said they saw Babbit get shot, other people get ‘trampled’ in a mob stampede, and believed they saw a second woman severely injured.

‘A second woman died (or came close),’ the witness wrote on Twitter. ‘It was a very intense situation that occurred after I saw several people get trampled, nearly avoiding that myself.

‘She collapsed in the entryway to the capital building and was trampled. Compressions were performed on her but I was unable to feel a carotid or femoral pulse. Several men carried her back to the police line. She was very cyanotic [discolored skin due to lack of oxygen] & bleeding from the face.’

The witness described a terrifying and deadly crush of people in the building, panicking as they fled police.

‘I was filming at the edge of the entrance just outside the flow a large group of people pressing into & being pressed from behind into the hallway,’ they wrote. ‘A large man grabbed from behind, pushed me into the Frey and said, ‘you’re going in, get in there,’ (I think). And I was fought in the mob and pressed into the entry hallway.

‘I managed to pull myself into a corner nook against the wall. Moments after, the police inside made a great push outward against the dozens of people pushing inward. Everyone became packed like sardines unable to move against the flow of bodies.’

They added: ‘At this point, the police and citizens began unleashing a sea of spray mace from both sides. It was nearly impossible to breathe or keep from panicking.

‘The man next to me passed out but remained standing due to how tightly we were packed. I slapped his face and he revived. About this time, the woman collapsed, the police overcame the crowd, and I began to see people being seriously trampled as people were fleeing.’

President Trump has said nothing of their deaths himself.

In a brief statement in the White House briefing room, his press secretary Kayleigh Mcenany said: ‘Those who violently besieged our capitol are the opposite of everything this administration stands for.’

She walked away without taking any questions from the press. Trump’s Twitter and Facebook accounts have been locked.

Federal courts go low-tech for sensitive documents following SolarWinds hack

The list of companies and agencies discovering that they’ve been affected by the SolarWinds hack is still growing, and they’re working with a big unknown: how far the hackers got into their systems. The federal judiciary system is likely now one of them (via The Wall Street Journal), and it isn’t taking any chances. It’s worried enough that court workers will now have to physically deliver sensitive documents, despite the ongoing pandemic.

The judiciary’s new procedures sound rather intense:

Under the new procedures announced today, highly sensitive court documents (HSDs) filed with federal courts will be accepted for filing in paper form or via a secure electronic device, such as a thumb drive, and stored in a secure stand-alone computer system. These sealed HSDs will not be uploaded to CM/ECF.

The message here is clear: the judiciary does not want its most sensitive documents on the system until it figures out what the hackers have done to it, and it’s willing to add quite a bit of friction to the process of filing the documents. They can no longer just send them through the internet; they’ll have to hand-deliver actual paper or USB sticks.

We fully appreciate the practical implications of taking these steps and the administrative burden they will place on courts, yet any such burdens are outweighed by the need to preserve the confidentiality of sealed filings that are at risk of compromise.

The documents in question are not necessarily the regular sealed records of everyday court proceedings. The Wall Street Journal article points out that the HSDs could contain detailed explanations of how investigators work a case, as well as information on people who could currently be under surveillance. Knowing this information could help someone avoid detection or investigation, which is why it’s so important to keep it secure.

While the measures show that the judiciary feels it can’t trust its existing networks, the public’s access to court records won’t be changing. Any records that would’ve been publicly available will still be uploaded to the Case Management and Electronic Case Files system.

Elon Musk Tweets ‘Use Signal’ Following WhatsApp Privacy Policy Change

Elon Musk tweeted “Use Signal” on Thursday, right after changes were made to WhatsApp’s privacy policy that would lead to more data sharing with its parent company Facebook. Earlier today, Musk also tweeted a ‘domino effect’ meme, where he implied that the start of Facebook was responsible for the chaos and violence that took place at the US Capitol in Washington. It’s perhaps no surprise that Musk has a history of public disagreements with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, which often get aired on Twitter.

Signal is a well-known privacy-focussed messaging app, that is widely used by security experts, privacy researchers, academics, and journalists around the world. The Signal protocol also underpins WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, although one key difference is that Signal is open source, while WhatsApp is not.

WhatsApp’s new privacy policy has drawn concern from many, as the app has long touted that user data is not looked at in any way, and that WhatsApp is secure and private. Earlier, WhatsApp also complained that Apple’s App Store privacy labels are anti-competitive, because the same labels don’t apply to Apple’s own apps.

WhatsApp’s updated privacy policy and terms of service have new sections including Transactions and Payments Data as well as Location Information. The most notable changes that exist on both updated privacy policy and terms of service are around how WhatsApp shares information with Facebook and its subsidiaries.

As mentioned above, this wasn’t the only dig that Musk took against Facebook. A little earlier, he also tweeted a meme connecting the starting of Facebook to a domino effect leading to the violence and chaos in Washington.

Musk has a history of disagreeing with Zuckerberg on Twitter, that goes back many years now. The two have, for example, famously disagreed on artificial intelligence, that Musk argued had to be carefully regulated. When Zuckerberg had spoken against fear mongering over AI, Musk tweeted that the Facebook CEO’s “understanding of the subject is limited.”
