According to the Traveling Legal Clinic, the curfew in its current form violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, as it undermines the security, liberty, equality and even the “right to life” of people without. home.

“For some of these people, respecting the curfew cannot be done without suffering serious harm, while others are simply unable to comply due to circumstances beyond their control.” , we can read in the request signed by the law firm of the legal clinic, Trudel Johnston & Lespérance.

Prosecutors are calling for the curfew to be immediately suspended for homeless people, until the courts look into the matter further.

Whether or not homeless people are exempt has been debated since the Legault government introduced the curfew. This is in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., at least until February 8.

The subject returned to the forefront this week, following the death of an Indigenous homeless man, Raphaël André, who was killed in a chemical toilet a stone’s throw from a closed shelter.

The 51-year-old is said to have gone into hiding there because he feared he would be fined $ 1,550 for breaking the curfew.

In the process, the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, asked the Legault government to exempt the homeless from the application of this measure.

The Prime Minister however rejected this proposal.

“You have to understand that if we put in the regulations the fact that a homeless person cannot receive a ticket, anyone could say ‘me, I am a homeless person, so you do not have the right to give me a ticket. contravention ”, declared François Legault at a press conference on Tuesday.

These comments have since sparked strong criticism. Federal Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller, among others, said he was disappointed with the Prime Minister’s decision.

Kate Middleton Shows Off Long Hair Makeover As England’s Lockdown Continues: Before & After Pics

Kate Middleton debuted her gorgeous long hairdo in a new video via The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Twitter account! Check out her fresh look and watch her video to frontline health care workers.

Kate Middleton sent a humble message on January 21 to nurses working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic. The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, looked as lovely as ever, debuting her new long hair makeover and showing how much her brunette locks have grown since she and her family have been quarantining together. Kate has been with her husband, Prince William, 38, and their three children — Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2 — for months as they continue to isolate as a family.

You can see the above video for Kate’s new hairstyle as well as a before photo below! Despite the pandemic, though, neither Kate nor William have shirked their royal duties. During Kate’s address to health care workers, in which royal fans could see just how long Kate’s hair had grown in quarantine, the mother-of-three humbly thanked health care workers who continue to care for thousands amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Nurses up and down the country are going that extra mile, at a time when patients need it the most,” the caption to the above video read. “These acts of courage, strength, and kindness matter so much right now & we owe you a huge thank you for all that you have done & continue to do throughout these difficult times.” Far more touching than the introduction to the video were the kind words Kate extended to those risking their lives to save others.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, visits Cardiff Castle as part of their working visits across the UK ahead of the Christmas holidays on December 8, 2020 in Cardiff, United Kingdom [AP].

“That’s what matters so much now,” the Duchess said to nurses. “These acts of kindness to the patients that you’re looking after, that are in your care, that family members aren’t able to be there. But you are going that extra mile.” The coronavirus has left very few untouched, and even Kate and her family have faced their own battles.

Prince William tested positive for the virus in April 2020, but the news didn’t become public until November, when the royal had undergone isolation. In late March, Kate’s father-in-law, Prince Charles, also tested positive for the virus. Clearly, though, the entire royal family is doing what they can to ensure that everyone can remain safe and healthy in the months to come.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep Before Your COVID Vaccine

By Robert Preidt

HealthDay Reporter

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 20, 2021 (HealthDay News) — Want to get the most out of your COVID-19 vaccine? Make sure you get some good rest before you get your shot, sleep experts say.

That’s because adequate sleep is an important factor in a strong immune system.

“As COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed, it is of utmost importance that patients continue to prioritize their sleep to maintain optimal health,” American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) president Dr. Kannan Ramar said in an academy news release. “Getting sufficient, high-quality sleep on a regular basis strengthens your body’s immune system and optimizes your response to a vaccine.”

Several studies have found an association between sleep and vaccination response. For example, a 2020 study in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine found that flu vaccines appear to be more effective in people who get a sufficient amount of sleep during the two nights prior to receiving the shot. Other studies have reported similar findings about patients’ response to vaccines for hepatitis A and hepatitis B.

Dr. Khurshid Khurshid is director of the UMMHC/UMMS Center for Neuromodulation at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in Westborough, Mass. He said, “The role of sleep in boosting innate and acquired immune response is significant. All people, particularly health workers, should be aware of the immunity-boosting effects of sleep. Studies have shown that normal sleep after vaccination strengthens the immune response against an invading antigen, and this immunity-boosting effect of sleep is clinically significant.”

So, Khurshid added in the news release, “A good night’s sleep before and after vaccination could be very advantageous.”

Most adults should sleep at least seven hours a night, but the COVID-19 pandemic has harmed many Americans’ sleep, a recent AASM survey found.

One-third of respondents said their sleep quality has been affected, 30% have had changes in their ability to fall asleep, and 29% reported an impact on their nightly amount of sleep.

The AASM offered tips for getting a good night’s sleep:

  • Establish a bedtime and morning routine. Use the bedroom only for sleeping, not watching TV or reading. Keep your bedroom quiet, dark and a bit cool.
  • Restrict blue light exposure before bed by turning off your TV and other electronic devices 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime. Silence notifications and charge your devices away from your bed so you’re not tempted to look at social media or news alerts.
  • Limit alcohol, caffeine and large meals before bedtime. If you’re hungry after dinner, limit yourself to small, sugar-free and easily digestible snacks to avoid disrupting sleep.
