Medics informed her the cancer was gone just 10 days after the operation.

Now the songstress, who previously battled mouth cancer, gave fans an update on Facebook about her fight with coronavirus from her bed over the weekend

Last year, Jay told The Belfast Telegraph lockdown has given her time to reflect on her life following her cancer battle.

“We all get so upset about minor things and miss the fact that whatever’s happening, if you’re here it is a good day.”

Tracy Chapman: 5 Things To Know About Singer/Songwriter Who Won Lawsuit Against Nicki Minaj

Tracy Chapman — the singer best known for songs like ‘Fast Car’ — just won her copyright lawsuit against Nicki Minaj. Before Nicki forks over the $450k she owes, here’s what you need to know about Tracy.

Tracy Chapman’s copyright infringement lawsuit against Nicki Minaj is closed, and she’s now $450,000 richer, according to documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. In the legal filings, which became public on Jan. 7, Nicki, 38, reportedly offered that amount to settle the dispute over the leaked song, “Sorry.” The song contained an unauthorized sample of Tracy’s “Baby Can I Hold You,” and apparently, Tracy, 56, accepted the terms. By accepting the deal, Tracy and Nicki will avoid going to trial over the song later this year (and Tracy avoids having to pay the trial costs if Nicki were to win the clash.)

Tracy filed her lawsuit in October 2018, a couple of months after Nicki released her album, Queen. “Sorry,” a collaboration with Nas, was not included on the album. However, Nicki allegedly gave the song to Funkmaster Flex, who played it on his Internet radio show. Nicki did try to get permission to use “Baby Can I Hold You,” but Tracy is known to be on the “do not sample list,” an informal collection of artists known for not allowing other artists to sample their work. Nicki initially won a Sept. 2020 ruling that said she had a fair use right to create “Sorry.” Distributing the song, however, was a whole other matter.

For those who need a refresher, here’s the scoop on Tracy Chapman:

1. She is a highly regarded performer… Tracy Chapman, born March 30, 1964, is best known as an American singer-songwriter. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was raised by her mother. Despite not having much money, her mother bought three-year-old Tracy a ukulele, forging a love of music that would last a lifetime. Tracy won an academic scholarship where she studied in Connecticut and attended Tufts University in Massachusetts. By that point, she had graduated to guitar and honed her chops playing the Boston folk circuit. In 1987, she signed with Elektra.

2. …and multi-Grammy Award winner. Shortly after that major label deal, Tracy announced her arrival onto the music scene with her 1988 self-titled release. Tracy Chapman earned her six Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year. She won Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Contemporary Folk Album. Her debut included “Fast Car,” a song that would become one of her signature tunes. In 1995, she experienced a similar level of commercial and critical success with New Beginning, an album that contained her Platinum-certified hit, “Give Me One Reason.” In the decades since, Tracy continues to record and perform for audiences around the world.

3. She is socially active. “I’m approached by lots of organizations and lots of people who want me to support their various charitable efforts in some way. And I look at those requests, and I basically try to do what I can,” she told NPR in 2009. “I’ve supported Amnesty International for all these years. And as you probably know, it was because of the Amnesty International World Tour in 1988 that I was introduced to an international audience.” Tracy has also worked with charities helping out the Cleveland public school system.

4. Tracy is known for being private. Not much is known about Tracy’s personal life, and she would like to keep it that way. “I have a public life that’s my work life, and I have my personal life,” Tracy said in 2002, according to the About Tracy Chapman website. “In some ways, the decision to keep the two things separate relates to the work I do. I don’t think I would have anything interesting to write about if I didn’t give myself time to have a life, to hang out with my friends or read a book or travel someplace I’ve always wanted to see. It can be a very odd or unreal lifestyle being a musician, going from one hotel room to the next.”

She’s not fond of being famous. When Tracy sang “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution’” on the Nov. 2, 2020, episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, it was a big deal. Her previous televised performance was on a 2015 episode of The Late Show with David Letterman. Despite all her renown and respect, she never really has gotten the hang of fame. “Being in the public eye and under the glare of the spotlight was, and it still is, to some extent, uncomfortable for me,” she told the Irish Times in 2015, “but there are some ways by which everything that has happened in my life has prepared me for this career. But I am a bit shy. … I have this personality that is a bit on the reserved side and which had never really sought out the limelight. That has made me perhaps not the ideal person for this job.”

The singer of Jamiroquai taken for a rioter

English music group Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay, who some thought he recognized as a pro-Trump protester having invaded the Capitol, explained Thursday that he was not this man wearing a fur hat immortalized by the photographers.

“Hello everyone!” The 51-year-old singer said in a video posted to Twitter. “Some of you might think you saw me in Washington last night, but I wasn’t with all these freaks,” he adds.

On social media, some laughed at the resemblance between Jay Kay, a lover of wacky headgear, and the protester in disguise, actually a member of the far-right conspiracy movement QAnon known by the pseudonym of “Yellowstone Wolf”. The latter entered the Capitol, his face painted and wearing an impressive headdress with horns and fur, making an impression.

“I love the headgear, but I’m not sure that’s my type of dating,” Jay Kay wrote on Twitter.

The singer Andee “more serene than ever”

Five years after revealing that she suffers from bipolar disorder, Quebec singer Andee is doing better and now feels ready to release a new album.

“I feel more serene than ever, more serene than five years ago when I started making this album,” she says.

We got to know Andee, Andrée-Anne Leclerc’s stage name, in 2012 when she took part in Star Academy. Recruited by Universal Music who saw her as a future international star, she opened for Demi Lovato, Bryan Adams on the Plains of Abraham, was offered a song by the Pink crew.

In short, she was gone for the glory, but her sanity confused the waters.

She received her diagnosis after Star Academy and claims to have taken years to accept it. In 2015, the year of the release of his album Black and White Heart, a relapse sent her to hospital for four months.

“My health has been my priority over the past few years,” she sums up.

Back in Quebec

Which explains in good part why she took all her time to record this new album, expected on March 26.

We will find there the tracks of the two EP, One and Plus One, launched in November 2019 and June 2020. There will therefore be Starting point, a song in French which has been offered to radio stations since Tuesday.

Through it all, Andee will leave Ontario, where she has lived for seven years, to come back to settle near her parents’ house on the south shore of Quebec.

“I thought about it before COVID,” she says. My husband (Ontario musician Kori Kameda) wants to experience this. It will allow him to improve his French. This is a project that is close to our hearts. “

She wants this move to be beneficial for her career. “I think it will rise more in Quebec and, I hope, bring me more opportunities.”

Another taboo

One thing is certain, she will not hesitate to talk about mental health so that this subject is no longer taboo in the musical world.

“I see there’s a lot of talk about it. Are we talking about it enough? I am not ready to say yes. I think it’s still a taboo. Me the first, when I had my first psychosis in 2012, I didn’t want it to come out. “

Those days are over. Andee will not lose another opportunity to speak openly about it.

‘Still reflecting on this constant feeling that I was in that random part of the park at the exact time I was supposed to be, to find that young man,’ he began. ‘There are many coincidences that make me truly believe he led me to where he was at.’

The musician revealed that he found the body around noon on New Year’s Eve.

‘About 30 minutes later, I looked down at my watch. My running app had paused once I stopped and found him, and it said my average pace at that time was 11:11,’ he continued. ‘I told the police and the couple that gave me their phone, to look at my watch, and that maybe that was a good omen.’

Afterward, Rich felt compelled to share the information with the dead person’s mother.

‘Yesterday, I spoke to his sweet mom, which was one of the toughest things I can remember. We talked about the timeline and series of events. She told the last text he sent was at 11:11 [sic]. And I found him just 45 minutes later,’ he explained.

Rich described 11:11 as indicating that ‘angels are with you’ and that it’s a time to ‘wish for whatever you want. To feel at ease. That the universe is on your side.’

The number was also significant to him because of his song 11:11, which is ‘about loss.’

‘So anytime I see those numbers, it resonates with me,’ he continued.

He applauded first responders and members of the armed forces for being able to ‘look death in the eye every day’ and ‘continue to live their everyday lives’ in the Instagram post.

Still shaken, he explained he was ‘fairly far off from where anyone else would be running’ in a heavily wooded area, before saying he thought he saw a ‘young homeless man’ sleeping.

‘He was on his stomach and had a bag tied around his foot and was faced down. (Assumed maybe this was so people didn’t steal his belongings while he slept,) he explained,’ the performer said.

Rich continued: ‘After running around him, I felt bad for him, he was sleeping facedown and just looked like he was in a bad place. So I turned around and went back to check on him.’

Then, the singer said he realized the man was ‘not breathing’ and looked like he was shot or the victim of blunt force trauma.

‘As I get to the front of him, all I see is a lifeless face covered in blood. Everywhere,’ he recalled. ‘At this moment, I freak out and spring up the steep hill to try and find anyone with a pone to call police (I only had my apple watch at the time.)

He, then, finds a couple about 30 yards away and used their phone to contact the authorities and ends up spending hours ‘doing statements with state troopers, FBI, local police and detectives.

‘This young man looked maybe 18-25. Couldn’t tell, cause of all the blood, but his skin was still white. Didn’t look like it happened too long before I got there,’ he noted.

He continued: ‘After some time, the officers found a gun in one of his hands under his body. Which means it potentially could have been a suicide…Not that there is any type of thing that could help me cope with finding him like this. But, for sure knowing he wasn’t there discarded by someone else, and that he was there where he wanted to be, will at least put me a little more at ease.’

Rich went on to describe how the ordeal has weighed heavily on him.

‘I’m doing what I can to process this, the image, the reality. It’s been a rough 24 hours,’ he admitted. ‘Something I’ll never unsee or forget the couple minutes when it was just him and I down at the water as I figured out what the hell was going on and what I was going to do. Dead silent middle of a state park. Just running water and him and I. He looked like a young, normal kid. Someone with a family probably wondering where he was.’

Opera singer Danielle de Niese’s baby makes ‘dramatic entrance’ in amniotic sac

Danielle de Niese has said her baby made a “dramatic entrance” into the world, being delivered still in her amniotic sac.

The opera singing soprano and her husband Gus Christie have become parents to Sheherazade, named after the character from One Thousand And One Nights.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Danielle opened up about the moment her daughter made her way into the world.

She said: “It was a big, dramatic entrance. She came out intact in the amniotic sac.”

Gus added: “It’s very rare – only one in 80,000 babies are born like this.

“It’s part of her enigma. We had to do lots of Googling as there’s so much superstition around it. It’s supposed to bring good luck.”

Danielle de Niese and her husband Gus Christie, with their new baby daughter, Sheherazade

The new arrival is the first girl in 54 years to be born at their Glyndebourne home, when she was welcomed on December 13.

The couple already have five-year-old son Bacchus, while Gus, executive chairman of Glyndebourne, has four sons from a previous marriage.

Danielle said: “I always thought it would be lovely to have a girl, but Gus kept saying: ‘I make boys, so don’t get your hopes up'”

It was a close call for the couple though as the baby arrived just one hour after they arrived at the hospital.

Front cover of the latest edition of Hello! magazine

Danielle revealed: “I couldn’t deliver the baby without looking at Gus. I needed to look at him.

“I was shaking and trembling from adrenaline, which I wasn’t expecting. I think my body was in some sort of shock.”

With such a short space of time between arriving to give birth and the arrival happening, it is little wonder that Danielle’s body was in a spin on the big day.
