SN Srivastava, a 1985 batch IPS officer, has become the new Commissioner of Police of Delhi. SN Srivastava replaces Amulya Patnaik. Srivastava will take charge from March 1 as Amulya Patnaik retires on February 29. The home ministry has stamped his name last night. He was holding the post of CRPF Headquarters Delhi DG (Training). The Home Ministry had issued an order to relive them immediately on Tuesday. During the tenure of SN Srivastava, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had revealed the IPL match fixing. At that time he was the Special Commissioner of Police in the Special Cell.

The current Police Commissioner of Delhi Police, Amulya Patnaik is retiring on 29 February. Amulya Patnaik was given a one-month extension in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. Their expansion ends on February 29. SN Srivastava is still posted in CRPF (Training) Jammu and Kashmir. His tenure in CRPF was till June 30, 2021. He was in the CRPF per appointment. The Home Ministry had ordered the CRPF to relive them with immediate effect. He is considered skilled in making quick decisions in difficult situations.

He has long experience of dealing with situations like civil war while living in ADG, Western Region (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir. It is believed that keeping in mind his experience, he was deployed to control violence in Delhi. He will take over the Delhi Police from March 1.

The Special Cell in Delhi Police arrested several terrorists under his leadership. The credit for the abolition of the Indian Mujahideen also goes to SN Srivastava. He is currently the most senior police officer in Delhi and his name was in the race for Commissioner of Police for quite some time.
