Motorola Nio Design, Colour Leaked in Live Images

Motorola Nio’s pictures have allegedly surfaced online, tipping the design and colour variants of the upcoming phone. A tipster spotted live pictures of the Motorola device codenamed ‘Nio’, which has been in the news for quite some time now. The phone appears to be sporting a quad rear camera setup with a flash below the sensors. It may feature a 64-megapixel primary sensor. In the front, Motorola Nio has a dual-punch hole screen, as per the images.

The images were spotted by Nils Ahrensmeier(@NilsAhrDE) on Weibo and published on Voice. Motorola Nio is visible in a colour the tipster calls ‘Sky.’ There will reportedly also be a ‘Beryl’ variant of the Motorola phone.

On the right, Motorola Nio has volume buttons and a power and fingerprint sensor button, as seen in the pictures. ’64MP’ and “Audio Zoom’ are keywords written on the back panel of the smartphone, below the quad rear camera setup.

In a picture where the front panel is visible along with the settings of the phone, it says ‘Motorola Edge Plus,’ suggesting that the device in the picture could be a prototype. The tipster says that there is a possibility the Motorola phone codenamed ‘Nio’ could be the rumoured Motorola Edge S, something that has been speculated in recent reports.

As per a report, Motorola Nio may run Android 11 out-of-the-box and feature a full-HD+ (1,080×2,520 pixels) display. Nio is also tipped to come with up to 12GB RAM. A recent report indicates that the smartphone will come with a 105Hz display refresh rate. The Motorola branded phone codenamed ‘Nio’ is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC.

Motorola Nio, which could be the Motorola Edge S, is expected to be launched in Q1 2021.

[IMAGES] Let’s go for the first storm of the year!

Heavy accumulations of snow, ranging from 15 to 50 centimeters depending on the region of Quebec, are expected from Saturday morning for the first storm of the year.

• Read also: Road difficulties to be expected this weekend

“The rapid accumulation of snow will make travel difficult and visibility can suddenly be reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada predicted in its warnings in effect in several regions.

Up to 20 centimeters of snow and gusts of 40 km / h can be expected by Sunday morning in the Montreal area.

Snow removal operations will then begin as soon as the precipitation begins on Saturday in the cities of Montreal, Longueuil and Laval.

Several parking spaces were thus made available to free the streets when loading snow in the Montréal-Nord and Longueuil sectors.

Montrealers will be able to follow the progress of these operations in their area on the INFO-Neige MTL application.

In the Capitale-Nationale region, nearly 25 centimeters of snow are expected over the weekend, with a risk of blowing snow caused by winds blowing up to 80 km / h in places.

But the strongest of the storm will be felt on the North Shore overnight from Saturday to Sunday, so snow accumulations can reach 50 centimeters in the Sept-Îles sector. Higher water levels and big waves will also be an issue near the coast on Sunday.

Environment Canada recommends that all non-essential travel in the region be delayed until conditions improve.

Between 15 and 40 centimeters of snow can be expected in other regions of Quebec, with the risk of blowing snow in Charlevoix and Gaspésie.

Temperatures will range from zero degrees to a maximum of –4 in the province.

Maren Morris says Capitol riot images ‘hard to shake’ before calling out the wives of country stars

Maren Morris was troubled by the images of the deadly Capitol Hill riot and attempted coup attempt last week.

And she even went on to call out the wives of fellow country music stars for their social media posts regarding the incident which she saw as ‘spewing dangerous conspiracies.’

The 30-year-old Texas native took to Twitter to post about the insurrection and even went on to exchange tweets with fellow country star Mickey Guyton, 37, as they both expressed anger about what was going on in Washington DC as well as the comments from country singers’ wives.

It all began on January 6 – which was the day of carnage on Capitol Hill –  as Morris took to the microblogging site to express her disgust over the incident while referencing her nine-month-old child Hayes Andrew.

She wrote: ‘Today is gonna be hard to shake. Something my WW2 fighting Paw-Paw never told me about, something my parents never had to go through… thinking about how I will tell my son about this one day.’

On the same day Guyton took to the site to post: ‘I am completely disgusted. Are these boys still backing the blue? Asking for a friend.’

Not holding back: She went on to exchange tweets with fellow country star Mickey Guyton, 37, - seen in October 2020 - as they both expressed anger about what was going on in Washington DC as well as the comments from country singers' wives

That’s when things took a very interesting turn as Morris replied: ‘And how do some singer’s wives conveniently not know the difference between marching for racial injustice and Nazis breaching our Capitol because their guy didn’t win? [eye roll emoji]’

Guyton then replied with a GIF of Megan Thee Stallion turning her head with the caption: ‘I know exactly who you’re talking about.’

Maren then replied with an ‘Antifa disguised as Trump supporters’ image that had been circulated around the internet along with a series of screen shots debunking the legitimacy of it.

She has previously expressed her support for President Donald Trump and questioned the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer of 2020.

The wife of Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley, Brittney, also came under fire for her social media post in the aftermath of the attempted coup.

Brittney  shared a photo of she and her 35-year-old musician husband in a convertible truck as she stood holding an American flag as the caption originally referenced ‘patriots’ but was changed once it became clear that the large group was beginning to riot.

Sailor is also seen in a yellow bikini as she walks by the shore and picks up shells.

In an Instagram Story, the budding model is pictured kissing her boyfriend Ben Sosne.

This comes a week after Christie revealed she got a hip replacement to fix a nagging injury sustained during a helicopter crash back in 1994.

‘New year, new hip. Yes, that’s a band aid on my hip,’ Brinkley wrote in the post that began with a photo of the legendary supermodel on the side of a boat with a bandage on her hip.

Smile: Brinkley still looks as incredible as ever, which she proved again last week. The Uptown Girl actress was seen in a bikini top and shorts

Brinkley, 66, went on to reveal that the pain in her hip had been getting worse with each passing year.

Eventually the injury got bad enough that doctors highly recommended she undergo a hip replacement operation.

’12 years ago I was told it needed to be replaced but the surgery was daunting ! And I had things to do!’ the Michigan native told herself, which turned out to be her way of putting off the inevitable.

A good look on a good looking woman: The bikini top was teal and the shorts were black

But then, like so many others in the past 10-plus months, the COVID-19 pandemic shook up Brinkley’s world and she decided to finally take the time to do ‘something about the pain that had progressively influenced my decisions.’

This past Thanksgiving the mother of three put those thoughts into action and underwent the surgery, which she said gave her enough time to dance in her kitchen on New Year’s Eve.

‘And today I put on my long fins and explored the coral reefs propelled by my new hip!’ she shared along with some photos of her ocean escapades while snorkeling.

It was at this point that Brinkley encouraged her 659,000 fans and followers to take charge with their own health and well-being.

‘I’m writing all this to say If you’ve been putting something off that could improve your well-being but hesitate out of some sort of fear, I suggest learning as much as you can about the process and the results and expectations. I found the best Doctor for my circumstances and voila!’

Shore is pretty: She walked along a beach in the Caribbean where she has been on vacation since the new year

And in the end, the results of the surgery appear to be better than expected.

‘I can’t tell you how happy I am to have done this,’ she confessed before adding, ‘now I can focus on getting back in shape and rebuilding my strength. Never too old to get hip!’

The near tragedy helicopter crash happened while she was on a ski trip with five others in Telluride, Colorado.

Amazingly after five hours, they were all were rescued from 12,800 feet up a mountain by another helicopter, according to the Associated Press.

Brinkley gained worldwide fame with her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues, beginning in the late 1970s.

Her meteoric rise in the modeling industry would end up leading to a long career that branded her one of the original supermodels.

[IMAGES] Suspicious fire in a pizzeria in Boisbriand

A fire of suspicious origin broke out on Friday morning around 3:30 a.m. in a pizzeria located on Chemin de la Grande-Côte in Boisbriand.

The fire was brought under control by firefighters from the Boisbriand fire department with the support of other fire departments in the region, said the inspector of the Régie de police intermunicipale de Thérèse-de-Blainville, Martin Charron.

“The damage is extensive and it is possible that the fire affected other businesses in the shopping center,” he also said.

No injuries were reported and an investigation was initiated to determine the circumstances of the event.

Firefighters are still present at the scene of the blaze as police investigators arrive Friday morning to meet with witnesses and analyze surveillance cameras, the inspector said.

The area between rue de Boisbriand and boulevard de la Grande-Allée on Chemin de la Grande-Côte should be avoided at this time.

Anyone with information about the fire is encouraged to contact the police at (450) 435-2421, ext. 0.

OpenAI’s New AI Models Create Images From Text, Better Classify Them

OpenAI has unveiled DALL-E and CLIP, two new generative AI models that can generate images from your text and classify your images into categories respectively. DALL·E is a neural network that can generate images from the wildest text and image descriptions fed to it, such as “as an armchair in the shape of an avocado”, or “the exact same cat on the top as a sketch on the bottom”. CLIP uses a new method of training for image classification, meant to be more accurate, efficient, and flexible across a range of image types.

Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) models from the US-based AI company use deep learning to create images and human-like text. You can let your imagination run wild as DALL·E is trained to create diverse — and sometimes surreal — images depending on the text input. But the model has also raised questions regarding copyrights issues since DALL-E sources images from the Web to create its own.

AI illustrator DALL·E creates quirky images

The name DALL·E, as you might have already guessed, is a portmanteau of surrealist artist Salvador Dali and Pixar’s WALL·E. DALL·E can use text and image inputs to create quirky images. For example, it can create “an illustration of a baby daikon radish in a tutu walking a dog” or a “snail made of harp”. DALL·E is trained not only to generate images from scratch but also to regenerate any existing image in a way that is consistent with the text or image prompt.

Image results for the text prompt ‘a snail made of harp’

GPT-3 by OpenAI is a deep learning language model that can perform a variety of text-generation tasks using language input. GPT-3 could write a story, just like a human. For DALL·E, the San Francisco-based AI lab created an Image GPT-3 by swapping the text with images and training the AI to complete half-finished images.

DALL·E can draw images of animals or things with human characteristics and combine unrelated items sensibly to produce a single image. The success rate of the images will depend on how well the text is phrased. DALL·E is often able to “fill in the blanks” when the caption implies that the image must contain a certain detail that is not explicitly stated. For example, the text ‘a giraffe made of turtle’ or ‘an armchair in the shape of an avacado’ will give you a satisfactory output.

CLIPing text and images together

CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training) is a neural network that can perform accurate image classification based on natural language. It helps more accurately and efficiently classify images into distinct categories from “unfiltered, highly varied, and highly noisy data”. What makes CLIP different is that it does not recognise images from a curated data set, as most of the existing models for visual classification do. CLIP has been trained on a wide variety of natural language supervision that’s available on the Internet. Thus, CLIP learns what is in a picture from a detailed description rather than a labelled single word from a data set.

CLIP can be applied to any visual classification benchmark by providing the names of the visual categories to be recognised. According to the OpenAI blog, CLIP is similar to “zero-shot” capabilities of GPT-2 and GPT-3.

Models like DALL·E and CLIP have the potential of significant societal impact. The OpenAI team say that they will analyse how these models relates to societal issues like economic impact on certain professions, the potential for bias in the model outputs, and the longer-term ethical challenges implied by this technology.

A generative AI model like DALL·E that picks images directly from the Internet can pave the way to several copyright infringements. DALL·E can regenerate any rectangular region of an existing image on the Internet. And people have been tweeting about attribution and copyright of the distorted images.

Go read these stories about the use of spy satellite images in environmental studies

US spy satellites inadvertently collected vital environmental data at the height of the Cold War. This trove of photos and data from the Central Intelligence Agency has become crucial to the study of Earth’s environmental changes, as detailed in two fascinating stories in The New York Times this week. One story details the life of a scientist who analyzed them for years, another follows the history of the spy satellites that provided them.

Linda Zall, an environmental engineer, worked at the CIA for decades, leading a team that analyzed images from spy satellites to gather data for environmental studies. She wrote classified reports about how reconnaissance imagery could be used for earth and environmental science, running a research task force that she named Medea, and traveling to Moscow to negotiate the sharing of Arctic data between Russia and the US.

Though the secrecy of the CIA prevented her from being able to publicly take credit for her work, it paved the way for modern scientists to continue using the same methods to study environmental shifts. Declassified images from the Corona satellite project — which collected nearly 2 million images from orbit from 1960 to 1972 — are now used by scientists to track decades of changes around the world, from the movement of glaciers to the erosion of shorelines.

Satellites operated by the CIA have provided vast amounts of environmental data from the 1960s onward that otherwise wouldn’t exist. Other satellite documentation of the Earth’s surface wasn’t collected until later in the century, and being able to look further into the past allows scientists to more accurately predict future changes. Not all of those images are easily accessible though; the majority of Corona’s film has yet to be scanned.

To read the full stories, both of which include comparisons of satellite imagery throughout the years, find the article on Zall here and the history of the Corona satellites here.
