Man Utd transfer round-up: Reds ‘make contact’ with two Sancho alternatives

[ad_1]

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad has already been boosted by the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a £35m move, but talk of further additions will not disappear.

The Jadon Sancho discussion is likely to continue, with the Dortmund man due to turn out for his club in this weekend’s Bundesliga opener, but the Englishman isn’t the only man mentioned in connection with United as we enter the final weeks of the transfer window.

Here’s the latest from around Europe on a handful of moves which may or may not be completed before the October deadline.

Watford link emerges as Man Utd continue to explore Sancho alternatives

Manchester United’s pursuit of a new winger has dominated the back pages, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho remaining high on their list of priorities, but other names continue to attract the club’s interest.

Ismaila Sarr has been linked with a Premier League return throughout the summer, having suffered relegation with Watford last season, and the Independent reports that intermediaries have made initial enquiries regarding an Old Trafford move for the 22-year-old.

United are struggling to sign Jadon Sancho

Sarr became Watford’s record signing when he joined from Rennes in 2019, and scored five Premier League goals in 28 appearances in his maiden season in England.

The Senegal international cost the Hertfordshire club a fee in the region of £30m, and it is being reported that the Hornets would want to recoup as much of that sum as possible.

Watford have already done business with United this summer, taking midfielder James Garner on loan for the season, but have trimmed their squad with the departures of Pervis Estupinan and Abdoulaye Doucoure following relegation.

Porto ‘awaiting bid’ for left-back

United are keen on signing Alex Telles

While the left-back position is not thought to be Manchester United ’s biggest priority this summer, the club have been linked with a handful of players in the position.

Tottenham -bound Sergio Reguilon was one such name, but attention has now turned to Alex Telles of Porto.

The Brazilian international is out of contract next summer, which could bring his price down, and has also been mentioned in connection with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, via MEN Sport, Porto are awaiting an “imminent’ bid for the defender from United.

Telles has been a regular for the club since joining from Galatasaray in 2016, and scored 11 goals in the Primeira Liga last season.

United have ‘made contact’ with Perisic as Spurs drop out of race

Could Perisic sign for United?

Ivan Perisic has a number of potential suitors, with the Croatian tipped to leave Inter Milan before the transfer deadline.

The Croatian spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, coming off the bench in the Champions League final, but is now back in Italy.

Manchester United are looking to plot their path back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

According to fussballtransfers, via the Express, Manchester United have made contact over the player, who was a target during Jose Mourinho’s time in charge.

There has previously been talk of a swap deal involving Perisic and Chris Smalling, who impressed on loan with Inter’s Serie A rivals Roma last season.

However, any suggestion Tottenham could rival United for the World Cup finalist appears to have faded, with the Express suggesting Spurs’ move for Gareth Bale has ensured Perisic is no longer an immediate target of theirs.
