A production listing has sparked rumors season three of The Mandalorian may begin filming in April 2021. 

A post for the show on the Film & Television Industry Alliance website indicates season three will start shooting on April 5, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

Creator Jon Favreau is listed under the cast and crew, however Disney has yet to comment on the post.

The news would come as a delight to fans, after Favreau suggested filming season three may be delayed amid a pileup of Star Wars-linked projects.

The Disney+ show, for its first two seasons, debuted in the autumn TV lineup, but Favreau told Good Morning America last month that he’s going to be working on a show called The Book of Boba Fett prior to focusing on the The Mandalorian’s third season.

‘So, this is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3, but what we didn’t say in that announcement is that the next show coming up, [Lucasfilm President Katherine Kennedy] said the next chapter, and that’s going to be The Book of Boba Fett,’ Favreau said on the ABC show in a remote interview.

Once The Book of Boba Fett is complete, ‘then we go into production right after that on Season 3 of The Mandalorian,’ Favreau said, calling into question the potential timeline The Mandalorian’s third season will air. interview.

The showrunner/director delved into additional detail about The Book of Boba Fett, a standalone spin-off series set to star Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, with acclaimed filmmaker Robert Rodriguez as executive producer.

‘We didn’t want to spoil the surprise during the big Disney announcement of all the shows, so they let me keep this one a secret,’ he said. ‘And then we go into production right after that on The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all know and love… pretty soon following that.

Favreau added that ‘there’s a lot of Star Wars content coming out’ in the near future with the enduring success of the George Lucas sci-fi franchise.

‘I think they announced 10 projects, I think this will be 11,’ he said.

Favreau said that set of spinoffs include Ahsoka, which will star Rosario Dawson; and The Rangers of the New Republic, both occurring in the same timeline as The Mandalorian.
