AMLO announces that he has coronavirus | The State

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, 67, announced this Sunday that he has coronavirus and that he is under “medical treatment.”

“I regret to inform you that I am infected with COVID-19. The symptoms are mild but I am already under medical treatment. As always, I am optimistic. We will all move forward, “reported AMLO through social networks.

AMLO said that he will be aware of “public affairs from the National Palace.” From there he will discuss with the president Russian Vladimir Putin on the possibility of obtaining the Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19.

López Obrador explained that during the next few days the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, will “represent” you at the morning press conferences the president offers each day.

This same Sunday, López Obrador participated in the inauguration of a National Guard facilities in the state of San Luis Potosí together with the state governor, Juan Manuel Carreras, and the Secretaries of Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez; from the Navy, Rafael Ojeda; and of the National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval.

On Saturday he was on tour in the state of Nuevo León where he also met with the governor, Jaime Rodríguez.

In none of his acts did the president wear a mask, since López Obrador has refused to wear it in public since the start of the pandemic and months ago he resumed his tours of the Mexican territory.

During the week he has also had meetings with various members of his cabinet, such as the chancellor, Marcelo Ebrard, with whom he was on Friday during the call with the president of the United States, Joe Biden.
