Kota: put cooler on replacing ventilator plug in hospital, patient dies

There was a lot of heat in the ward, so the person’s family members put coolers there. It is being told that when no socket was found to install the cooler, they removed the plug of the ventilator itself.

A case has come out of Rajasthan’s Kota district where a 40-year-old man died in a government hospital after his own family allegedly removed the ventilator plug to run the cooler.

In fact, according to a PTI report, on 13 June, a man was admitted to Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) Hospital on suspicion of Corona virus infection. Later the report of that person came negative.

Meanwhile, the man was shifted to a separate ward on 15 June. There was a lot of heat in the separate ward, so the person’s family members put coolers there. It is being told that when no socket was found to install the cooler, they removed the plug of the ventilator itself.

After about half an hour the power of the ventilator went out. Doctors were immediately informed about this, who tried CPR on the patient, but the man died.

There was a stir in the hospital after this incident. Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Naveen Saxena said that a three-member committee will investigate the incident which includes the Deputy Superintendent of Nursing, Superintendent of Nursing and Chief Medical Officer. The committee will submit its report on Saturday.

On the other hand, in connection with the incident, other officials of the hospital said that the family did not take permission to install the cooler. They allege that when the patient died, they mistreated the resident doctors and medical personnel on duty. The matter is currently being investigated.
