BSNL’s telecom services will stop if TAIPA dues are not paid immediately

new Delhi. Public sector telecom company BSNL has been asked by the telecom infrastructure companies to repay the outstanding of Rs 1,500 crore immediately. These companies said that if they do not do so, they are unable to spend the necessary expenses to keep the services of the telecom company running. Infrastructure sector companies said that mobile services are already being disrupted at many places in the country due to non-payment.

The group of eight infrastructural companies under industry organization Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association-TAIPA wrote a letter to BSNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purwar owing to the problem of payment of electricity, diesel, batteries, etc. necessary to maintain PSU services. The amount is demanded to be repaid immediately.

TAIPA Director General TR Dua said in a statement that BSNL owes a total of Rs 1,500 crore for a long time, due to which the problem has become serious. We are expecting immediate intervention and support from the CMD of BSNL in this matter.

He said that the telecom infrastructure companies are already facing financial crisis and are working hard to maintain the network smoothly during the ongoing lockdown. The company did not currently respond to questions sent to BSNL in this regard.

TAIPA has sought immediate intervention from CMD of BSNL on behalf of Indus Towers Limited, ATC Telecom Infrastructure Private Limited, Bharti Infratel Limited, Tower Vision Limited, Sterlite Technologies Limited, Space Telelink Limited, Applied Solar Technologies and CosLight India Limited.
