Coronavirus COVID-19 Delhi The Buzz

Brazil President Bolsonaro thanks Modi for Covid vaccine

New York, January 23

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing two million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to fight the deadly coronavirus infection in his country, one of the worst-hit nations by the pandemic.

India, one of the world’s biggest drugmakers, on Friday began commercial exports and sent two million doses of Covishield, developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, to Brazil.

India has undertaken contractual supplies of coronavirus vaccines to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Brazil, Morocco, Bangladesh and Myanmar, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in New Delhi on Friday.

“Namaskar, Prime Minister @narendramodi. Brazil is honoured to have a great partner to overcome a global obstacle. Thank you for helping us with vaccine exports from India to Brazil. Dhanyavaad!,” Bolsonaro tweeted on Friday.

He also tweeted a picture of Lord Hanuman carrying a vaccine from India to Brazil.

Brazil’s government has received 2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine from India.

Brazil’s Health Ministry announced that the vaccine landed in Sao Paulo on Friday before being flown to Rio de Janeiro, where Brazil’s state-run Fiocruz Institute is based, the Associated Press reported.

Fiocruz has an agreement to produce and distribute the vaccine, the report said. In April, India also provided the Latin American country raw materials for the production of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine.

Brazil has the second highest number of coronavirus cases in the world next only to the United States. The total number of cases are over 8.7 million and 2,14,000 deaths related to COVID-19 have been recorded.

India is one of the world’s biggest drugmakers, and an increasing number of countries have already approached it for procuring the coronavirus vaccines.

India has already rolled out a massive coronavirus vaccination drive under which two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, are being administered to frontline health workers across the country.

While Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield is being manufactured by the Serum Institute, Covaxin is being produced by Bharat Biotech.

India had earlier supplied hydroxychloroquine, Remdesivir and paracetamol tablets, as well as diagnostic kits, ventilators, masks, gloves and other medical supplies to a large number of countries to help them deal with the pandemic. PTI

Natalia Bryant turns 18 on Jan. 19, and in honor of the big day, her mom, Vanessa Bryant, wrote the most touching tribute to honor her oldest daughter.

In the nearly one year since Kobe Bryant’s death, Natalia Bryant has been her mom, Vanessa Bryant’s, rock. Natalia celebrated her 18th birthday on Jan. 19, and Vanessa took to Instagram with a series of throwback photos and sweet messages for her girl. She gushed over her favorite qualities about Natalia, and thanked her for stepping up to help raise her younger sisters, Bianka, 4, and Capri, 1, after Kobe’s passing.

“Mommy and Daddy are so proud of the young lady that you are,” Vanessa gushed. “You have displayed so much strength and grace throughout the most difficult year of our lives. Thank you for stepping in to help me with your little sisters. You’re such an incredible big sister and a beautiful role model to so many people. Vanessa shared a series of photos of Natalia taken at a photo shoot, as well as the most adorable throwback pic of her as a baby, being held by Kobe on the basketball court. There was also a shot of Vanessa, Kobe, and baby Natalia sitting in the middle of the Los Angeles Lakers emblem at the Staples Center. “Daddy’s little princess,” Vanessa wrote alongside one of the images.

Natalia’s birthday comes just one week ahead of the anniversary of Kobe’s tragic death. The NBA star died alongside his and Vanessa’s second oldest daughter, Gianna Bryant, 13, in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020. However, amidst this extremely difficult time, the Bryant family also has a lot to celebrate, as Natalia is currently preparing to head off to college later this year.

Earlier this month, Vanessa revealed that New York University is one of Natalia’s top choices for college. Of course, if the proud mom has her way, her girl will stay much closer to home in California! She also shared that Natalia is considering the University of Southern California as another option. In just a few short months, the acceptance letters will go out and a decision will be made.

A long immigration nightmare seems to have ended for Fermina Ríos, a devoted Mexican mother who has just received the good news from her lawyer that she will no longer be deported.

The most important thing is that this way she will be able to continue in Queens (NYC), taking care of her daughter Dalia García, who depends a lot on her care since she had a car accident that left her a quadriplegic two years ago.

“She needs me a lot. The truth is I have no words, I’m very excited, I was in ‘shock’ “, Ríos said NY1 News.

Fermina came to the United States without papers from Mexico at the age of 18. When he received an appointment from Immigration, he did not appear at the correct address, he says. Therefore, he later obtained a deportation order in absentia.

Over a year ago, attorney Marilyn Orbach Rosenberg appealed Fermina’s case. Under current policies, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office (ICE) “You can deport any immigrant regardless of whether they have American children or a sick relative. Now, with the imminent change of government, his file has been reopenedCommented the station.

“The great victory is that the government confirmed to me that they are not opposed to opening this case,” said attorney Orbach Rosenberg.

Fermina says that The first thing you would do upon receiving your residency is to visit your country to thank the Virgin of Guadalupe. “The truth that miracles do exist … I thank God and the lawyer who is helping us ”.

You might never lose your keys again thanks to handy new Samsung phone feature

Samsung has launched a new gadget that could stop you ever losing your keys again.

It has today confirmed rumours of its hotly-anticipated ‘Galaxy SmartTags’.

The GPS tags priced at £29 can be attached to your most valuable items – like your house keys or a pet with a habit of running away – and tracked using your phone’s bluetooth.

Samsung fans have been eagerly awaiting the tags, which are also designed to use other people’s smartphones nearby to trace lost items once activated.

So if you were to, say, lose your bag on a bus – SmartTags would use other people’s phones with the app SmartThings Find downloaded to track the tag as it speeds away out of your phone’s range.

The brand unveiled the bluetooth tags today by showing how it could be used to track a missing dog.

What would you use SmartTags to track? Share your thoughts in the comments below…

Galaxy SmartTags can even be attached to your dog

Pet owners can clip the tag to their pet’s collar – and if little Fido goes missing, his location can be pinpointed using Samsung’s existing app SmartThings.

The brand is marketing the tags as a way to track your most treasured possessions, and syncing the items’ locations to Samsung phones.

The tags come in a range of colours to match the new Samsung S21, S21+ and Ultra smartphone line unveiled today.

The colour themes includes Phantom white, violet, grey and pink.

And the SmartTags also come in black too.

So far, Samsung UK is offering black and oatmeal SmartTags on its site only.

The brand is marketing the tags to track everyday items – like your laptop, bag, or keys.

But expect to see some light-hearted shenanigans once they are launched -and some questions around privacy too.

How long do you think it will take before users will test out track their spouses, or kids?

Samsung launched the new product on Thursday as it showed off its new Galaxy S21 phone and latest ear buds, the Galaxy Buds Pro, at its first Unpacked event of 2021.

It is the first major smartphone launch since rival Apple launched the iPhone 12 range late last year.

The SmartTags release sees Samsung pip Apple in the race to produce an everyday bluetooth-operated tracker.

Apple’s AirTags are said to have been in the works for years, but the product has not yet dropped.

GalaxyTags come hot on the heels of the success of Tiles – which some of you may already be familiar with.

Samsung presents a visual of four colours of its new Galaxy SmartTag tracking devices
The SmartTags come in a range of colours

Tile’s bluetooth accessories clip to other items so they can be tracked down if your phone is in range.

Users who have lost their device can search for the Tile using their smartphone, triggering the tag to play a loud tune.

If its out of range, it calls on an anonymised network of Tile users’ phones to help track the missing item.

So if someone with the Tile app goes past your missing item with the tracker attached, it will ping back their location to your phone so you can get hot on the trail.

The new Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra
The new Samsung range features Galaxy Ear Bud Pro too

The latest tech is very much in the vein of Apple’s now vintage Find my iPhone service, that allowed users to login and track lost and stolen devices.

But the tags, which Samsung will be hoping prove popular with the forgetful Average Joe smartphone user, expands on the idea by allowing tags to be attached to any item the owner holds dear.

So what would you attach yours to?

Reese Witherspoon has thanked the customers who have ‘supported’ Draper James ‘this past year’.

The Legally Blonde star took to Instagram over the weekend to post a picture of her clothing line’s store in Nashville, Tennessee, as she reflected on 2020.

The 44-year-old actress captioned the snap of the storefront: ‘This happy store makes me smile. Thank you to all of you who have shopped and supported @draperjames this past year!! If you’re driving through #Nashville and spot our blue and white awnings, come on in and say hello!’

A fresh smile for 2021: Here Reese is seen in one of her Draper James dresses

This comes after the city was bombed.

In the days before he detonated a bomb in downtown Nashville on Christmas, Anthony Quinn Warner changed his life in ways that suggest he never intended to survive the blast that killed him and wounded three other people.

Warner, 63, gave away his car, telling the recipient that he had cancer. A month before the bombing, he signed a document that transferred his longtime home in a Nashville suburb to a California woman for nothing in return. The computer consultant told an employer that he was retiring.

Say hi y'all: The 44-year-old actress captioned the snap of the storefront: 'This happy store makes me smile. Thank you to all of you who have shopped and supported @draperjames this past year!! If you're driving through #Nashville and spot our blue and white awnings, come on in and say hello!'

But he did’t leave behind a clear digital footprint or any other obvious clues to explain why he set off the explosion in his parked recreational vehicle or played a message warning people to flee before it damaged dozens of buildings and knocked out cellphone service in the area.

While investigators tried to piece together a possible motive for the attack, a neighbor recalled a recent conversation with Warner that seemed ominous only in hindsight.

Rick Laude told The Associated Press on Monday that he saw Warner standing at his mailbox less than a week before Christmas and pulled over in his car to talk. After asking how Warner´s elderly mother was doing, Laude said he casually asked him, ‘Is Santa going to bring you anything good for Christmas?’

Warner smiled and said, ‘Oh, yeah, Nashville and the world is never going to forget me,’ Laude recalled.

In 2016, Reese’s store was named the best shop in Tennessee.

The Wild star took to Instagram at the time to announce Southern Living magazine readers had named the flagship store as the best in Tennessee and the second best in the South.

She wrote: ‘Thank you @southernlivingmag and your incredible readers for voting @draperjames the #1 store in Tennessee and 2nd store in the South! So honored! #SouthsBest #SouthernPride (sic)’

And the magazine also took to their account on the photo-sharing site to announce the news.

They shared: ‘In case you missed it, our readers named @draperjames the best store in Tennessee!

‘To celebrate, @reesewitherspoon has a special discount just for you. Follow the link in our profile for all the details. #SouthsBest.’

The blonde beauty was thrilled when she opened the first store in Nashville.

Of her decision to open the flagship there, she said: ‘I grew up in Nashville and it’s been such a direct inspiration for the brand. It just felt like the right place for our flagship.’

While Draper James chief executive officer Andrea Hyde added: ‘There’s a lot of shared references. We have a genuine story and such a large megaphone. Reese is a world-class storyteller. To bring this all to one place and tell the story in one building is wonderful.

‘We’ll open one to two stores a year for the next five years … Reese has such a wide reach. Customers have asked for bridal, shoes and swimwear. We’re only 21 weeks old. It will all come in time.’

Anil Kapoor thanks Nawazuddin Siddiqui for praising AK Vs AK, reminds him ‘I’m sure you noticed you were a part of it too’

Anil Kapoor has thanked Nawazuddin Siddiqui for appreciating his new film, AK Vs AK. Anil also reminded Nawazuddin of his cameo in the Vikramaditya Motwane film.

Nawazuddin took to Twitter on December 30 to share his review of AK Vs AK. He wrote, “Watched #AKvsAK. Top notch performance by @anuragkashyap72 & @AnilKapoor aka The AKs. A very unique & interesting experiment by @VikramMotwane which was perfectly paced & amazingly executed. Do watch it guys only on @NetflixIndia @netflix.”

Reacting to the tweet on Saturday, Anil wrote, “Thank you so much @Nawazuddin_S !! And I’m sure you noticed you were a part of it too!!”

AK Vs AK stars Anil and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap as exaggerated versions of themselves. Nawazuddin doesn’t appear on screen but is heard on the phone as he plays himself. He is heard talking to a furious Anurag on the phone, rejecting his film. Anurag screams at him, “How dare you refuse my offer? I’m the one who made your career with Gangs Of Wasseypur.” The Sacred Games actor calmly replies that he is not happy with the fee offered to him for the project and disconnects the phone.

AK vs AK, which is streaming on Netflix, stars Anurag as a brash film director who kidnaps popular movie star Anil’s daughter Sonam Kapoor and films his search for her in real-time to present it as his next blockbuster. The director and actor constantly mock and criticise each other throughout the movie. They had also had a fake showdown when they presented the film’s trailer at a press conference last month.

Also read: AK vs AK movie review: Anil Kapoor unleashes inner Chembur against Anurag Kashyap in inventive but inconsistent Netflix film

The Hindustan Times review of the film read, “AK vs AK must’ve sounded like a home-run on paper, but it isn’t as tightly constructed as it could’ve been and the twists are somewhat telegraphed. For all its ingenuity, it can’t help but feel like B-material — a dusty old idea spruced up for the streaming age.”
