The American boxer, Caleb Plant, revealed that the team of Saul Alvarez I contacted him last year to offer him a fight against the Mexican multi-champion; however, he rejected it due to the little preparation time it would have and the “Canelo Team”Ended up closing the fight against the other champion of the division: Callum smith, who ultimately fell against the redhead.

In an interview for Fight Hub, Caleb Plant recalled the moment of the offer: “I am a fighter and that is what I want to do, but my representative, Luis de Cubas, felt that with just five weeks’ notice, which is about four weeks of training, wasn’t enough for a fight of that magnitude and he didn’t want to sign the fight“, said.

The American agreed with his manager and together they made the decision to sacrifice the enormous financial gains they would have made for fighting the “Canelo” Álvarez to give priority to sports”.

“I respect Luis, because he is the best at what he does and it was a fight in which he too he would have earned a great salary. But he saw further and saw my interests. I’m a fighter, I want to fight, it’s what I love to do“He added.

Despite this, “Sweet Hands” clarified that It’s not that I don’t want to face “Canelo”, since doing it is one of your wishes, but you would like to do it under the proper conditions, being well prepared, since his intention is to fight against the best in order to have greater recognition.

He is refused a last shower before his death

Relatives of a dying man lament that he did not even get a shower during the weeks he spent in palliative care before he died.

“He asked it many times and it was always ‘no’. For him, it was a basic need and a comfort care, now, “laments Natacha Chouinard, his ex-spouse and caregiver.

Admitted to the palliative care unit of Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummondville at the beginning of December, Denis Thibault died there on January 4 from generalized cancer.

One of his last wishes would have been to take a shower, he who had to wear incontinence briefs and wash with a washcloth since his admission.

“To be well, it takes a minimum [d’hygiène] », Judges his son, Steve Thibault.

Except that a nurse questioned by Mme Chouinard reportedly told him that a shower was simply out of the question due to COVID.

“As a patient care attendant for 15 years, it hurt my heart to hear that,” she recalls.

Her offer to shower the 71-year-old herself was also turned down.

Showering was possible in humanitarian cases at Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummundville, despite additional COVID-related equipment stored in some bathrooms.

Showering was possible in humanitarian cases at Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummundville, despite additional COVID-related equipment stored in some bathrooms.

COVID alert

The 7e floor of the establishment where Mr. Thibault was hospitalized had been under a special protocol since December 9 due to the presence of potential cases of coronavirus

A misunderstanding of the measures in place or an excess of zeal could explain the refusal wiped by the septuagenarian, since showers were still allowed there in humanitarian cases.

“Outbreaks cause a load [de travail] additional. With the lack of personnel, this request to take a shower may not have materialized, “admits Guillaume Cliche, information officer for the CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Center-du-Québec.

As for relatives, they must absolutely be accompanied by an employee to provide care, regardless of their job title, he emphasizes.

Ineligible

As head of the Council for the Protection of the Sick, Paul Brunet sees this story as another example of a “rapid, reckless and inhumane” decision caused by the panic surrounding the pandemic.

“We made some decisions because we ran out of time and resources. It may explain them, but that does not excuse them, ”says the spokesperson.

Despite his cancer and the inability to take a shower, Denis Thibault remained in a good mood.

“Even with the illness, my father took everything to the positive side. He called it “his little sores,” “recalls his son Steve, who stayed at his bedside until the end.

Kanye ‘refused medication or to care for kids’ as Kim Kardashian seeks divorce

Kim Kardashian’s decision to divorce Kanye West is thought to have been partly swayed by his reported refusal to take medication for his bipolar disorder.

The 43-year-old rapper has also not taken any time to help parent their four children, as he stays at his $14 million ranch in Wyoming while Kim has the kids at their Calabasas mansion.

With Kanye having “no plans” to return to Kim, she has seen that there is no alternative to bring a permanent end to the six year marriage.

The 40-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has reportedly hired celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser to push through the divorce as battle plans are drawn up to carve up the couple’s near $2 billion fortune.

Kim shared plenty of snaps of herself with her siblings and children over Christmas – but none with Kanye

With settlement talks reportedly ongoing, a source has told The Sun that Kim had felt their marriage was no longer working as she felt like a “single mom” to North, seven, Chicago, two, Saint, five, and one-year-old Psalm.

The source said: “Kim wanted nothing more than to make her marriage work.

“She supported Kanye with his choice to run for president and tried to make amends even after Kanye tried to reveal her private life to the world.”

Kim is reportedly finished with trying to keep Kanye together, especially as they are living hundreds of miles apart and she has the children to care for.

Kanye West eturns to Los Angeles to ‘catch up with family’

The source added: “She has given her marriage her all and finally realised at a certain point it is time to walk away.

“She loves Kanye and always will, but he isn’t willing to remain on his medication and to do what it takes to make it work.”

Kanye has opened up about his bipolar disorder before and Kim supported him after his presidential bid ended with him saying that they wanted to abort North before attacking Kim and Kris Jenner in an epic Twitter rant.

Kim said that Kanye was suffering a bipolar episode but the rapper himself has said that he will not take medication for his mental health issues.

He once tweeted: “I cannot be on meds and make watch the throne level or dark fantasy level music.”

Kim also admitted to Vogue in 2019: “For him, being on medication is not really an option, because it just changes who he is.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been married for six years

Recent months have been difficult for the couple and Kim feels that Kanye is “out of control.”

The source added: “When Kim and Kanye started their family, Kim felt they were on the same page about life and their future but that last two years she has watched as he’s spun out of control, separated himself from her and the children and will do nothing to work on their marriage.”

The source continued to say that they were sleeping “in separate rooms” and she gave him space and time so he could focus on his career and projects.

“She never envisioned her life as a single mother but refuses to live like a single mother while she is married. She knows she deserves better,” said the source.

WikiLeaks founder accused of espionage and hacking

On January 4, London’s Old Bailey Court ruled on the case of Australian journalist and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, Sky News reported. The US authorities were denied his extradition, Judge Vanessa Baraitzer ruled. In her opinion, in America, Assange would be placed in a maximum security prison, which would negatively affect his mental health and could lead to suicide. The founder of WikiLeaks has been battling chronic depression for several years.

The US Department of Justice has filed 17 espionage charges against Assange and one charge of organizing a hacker attack on government computers to hack into them and further disseminate classified military documents.

The 49-year-old activist faces up to 175 years in prison.

Assange’s lawyers say he acted as a journalist and wanted to shed light on the many wrongdoings of the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson names Assange case “An unprecedented attack on free speech”… Ecuadorian embassy official Fidel Narvaez, where Assange was hiding, stated: “Keep in mind that freedom of expression is still under threat. Julian would have been extradited if his mental health would have allowed it. “

Ali Fazal: Many told me to focus on films and not take up work on the web but I refused to do so

He may not have had any film releases this year, but actor Ali Fazal had a great year nonetheless as he returned as Guddu Pandit in the second season of fan-favourite web series, Mirzapur.

“I never expected this to become so huge. We definitely knew that it was something new and we were trying it. But at that time we were very few shows down in the world of OTT platforms,” says the actor about exploring digital space.

While Fazal says the show has now turned out to be a great addition to his resume, he admits that initially he was dissuaded to take up the project.

“I still remember a lot of people telling me that why are you doing this, focus on movies and I refused and used to tell them that my heart is in it and I would like to experiment with it and I think I can pull it off,” the 34-year-old adds.

Nonetheless, he is grateful to have received so much appreciation for reprising the role in the web series because not many would have expected him to play and pull off this character.

“I know a world that resides in me which people are not aware of. I can totally understand that if I were a producer myself, I would think twice before casting Ali Fazal in this role because we live in the world where images play a huge part. Your last image is a big player in your next piece, next portrayal. But I think Mirzapur 2 and Death on the Nile (upcoming international film) are very different from anything that I have ever portrayed and been a part of,” he shares.

Before digital boom that we’ve all witnessed this year because of the pandemic, there was a perception that actors opting for the medium weren’t getting films and Fazal admits he has had that fear himself.

“That was my own fear. It is the social conditioning that we have. I don’t blame myself. I was like will I get typecast? Will people think I don’t have film work? But then somewhere you have to understand that the world got bigger in this era, the canvas got bigger. Suddenly we are competing in this era at the same level as any other international show because you are a pause button away from being done,” he says.

The Fukrey actor says he got a lot of confidence after the response he got from the audience.

“I think the validation is far more quick and honest now. And that gave me confidence. The audience gave me confidence that you know at the end of the day, cinema is cinema and we are storytellers and as long as somebody out there sitting in a big town or small town connected with the emotions that I was trying to portray, my job is done,” he muses.

This year has been an almost washout for theatrical releases, Fazal hopes that things would pick up in the coming months. “As an actor I will confess that we love the flavor of the 70 mm. I will still go back to cinema and films,” he concludes.

Elon Musk says Apple refused a meeting to acquire Tesla

Elon Musk said Tuesday that he wanted to sell Tesla to Apple during the “darkest days” of the Model 3 rollout but that CEO Tim Cook “refused” to take the meeting.

Musk dished about the proffer in response to a tweet about how Apple has reportedly reignited its desire to make and sell an electric, autonomous vehicle. He noted that Tesla was worth about one-tenth then what it is now, as the electric vehicle company rounds out a remarkable year where a meteoric stock price run turned it into the most valuable automaker on the planet.

Musk has previously said that Tesla was “single-digit weeks” away from collapse in 2017 as he directed all of the company’s resources toward ramping up production of the Model 3 sedan. Tesla ultimately survived, and has since gone on to roll out the Model Y SUV and announce new vehicles like the Cybertruck.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Frank Gore refused to let Jets lose

Adam Gase has stuck with Frank Gore time and time again through a trying Jets season.

The 37-year-old running back rewarded him Sunday, coming through in the clutch to make sure the Jets avoided 0-16.

Gore helped the Jets seal their first win of the season with his only catch of the game on a third down just before the two-minute warning that allowed them to run out the rest of the clock for a 23-20 victory over the Rams.

“Good thing we had a Hall of Fame running back in there that seems to make plays at the right time,” Gase said.

Gore finished with 23 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown, getting tough yards late on the Jets’ final drive before they entered foreign territory: victory formation. The play that secured the win came on third-and-6, when a pressured Sam Darnold found Gore waving his hands across the middle. The veteran caught the pass and fell backwards for the first down.

Without any timeouts left, the Rams had no way to stop the Jets from finding the win column.

“Before the play, I just told Sam, ‘Watch me over the middle,’ ” Gore said. “[Rams linebacker Troy Reeder] ran and Sam looked and I was open. I wanted to make sure I caught the ball and secured the win.”

Gore had been vocal earlier in the season about not wanting to have his name attached to an 0-16 season. Sunday, in Week 15, he finally made sure himself that stigma wouldn’t be attached to his accomplished career.

“I’m happy,” Gore said. “I had good years, I had bad years, I had tough years, like this has been a tough one. One thing I can say: I never went 0-16. We finally got one. I’m happy. I’m happy that [general manager Joe Douglas], Adam gave me an opportunity to play another year. To be here with these young guys, man, even though I know the year ain’t go how I planned it, but we’ve been fighting as a team. We’re steady going and we’re getting better.”

Gase has received criticism for sticking with Gore despite having younger running backs on the roster. It was amplified recently when Ty Johnson and Josh Adams helped the Jets have their best rushing game of the year against the Raiders after Gore left with a concussion.

But Gore got another heavy workload on Sunday and held up his end of the bargain. He found the end zone on a 1-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal midway through the third quarter, following behind big left tackle Mekhi Becton to get in for the 20-3 lead.

“I’m going to enjoy this today,” Gore said,” and have a good Christmas.”

‘Listened to my conscience’: PAU soil scientist who refused to accept award from Union minister

Ruchika M. Khanna

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, December 9

This erudite soil scientist’s world was restricted to his research laboratory in Punjab Agricultural University at Ludhiana, and the fields where he carried out his experiments on reducing the use of fertilisers, while maintaining high productivity of crops.

But when he refused to accept the FAI Golden Jubilee Award for the Best work done in the field of plant Nutrition, from the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers yesterday, his humble and brief submission captured on a mobile phone, made him an overnight hero of the ongoing farm struggle.

Talking to The Tribune, Varinderpal Singh says he had not planned to return the award initially, though he was pained by the reference to the poor farmers as “terrorists”. “I only listened to my conscience. I am an agriculture professional and son of a farmer. Obviously, I feel for the hundreds of farmers braving the cold weather in the open, protesting and demanding restoration of their rights,” he says.

This soil scientist says as he reached Delhi to receive the award, he hired an autorickshaw and the auto driver is the one whose conversation weighed on his conscience and he then decided to return the award. “The auto driver was from Uttar Pradesh and said he had been going to the protest sites on Delhi borders. He kept insisting that Punjabis are fighting for the rights of farmers in the entire country, and each one must make his own efforts to strengthen the ongoing struggle. I went to Bangla Sahib gurdwara first, paid obeisance and felt fearless in returning the award,” he told The Tribune.

When he was called out to receive the reward yesterday, he had said the technology he had developed would help save Rs 750 crore in Punjab alone, and trillions of rupees in India. “But when farmers are on the roads, I cannot accept this award. The work I did is only for the farmers and the nation. So I would be guilty if at this point I receive this great award. I have great gratitude towards the honourable minister….” he said.

Varinderpal Singh added that he had received the invite for receiving the award on November 6. “I am pained at how the poor farmers have been on the roads for months now. I hope the government resolved their issue. As for the public, I pray no one calls the “annadaata” a terrorist. Nothing can be more painful than this,” he says.
