FIFA 21 pro Harry Hesketh announces retirement after being banned for ‘mum joke’

Harry Hesketh has announced his retirement from FIFA esports after making a ‘mum joke’ towards a 15-year-old rival.

The former Hashtag United player announced his retirement from FIFA esports, and has also left esports org Fnatic, after receiving a temporary ban for his declaration towards FIFA prodigy Anders Vejrgang during a live stream.

He announced his retirement from FIFA esports his YouTube channel, with Hesketh also confirming he would now focus on content creation.

Hesketh was banned from February’s FIFA 21 Europe regional qualifier event by EA due to his comments towards Vejrgang on a Twitch broadcast on 12th December 2020, in which he referenced Vejrgang’s mother.

Vejrgang is a professional FIFA Player for RB Leipzig Esports, but is still a year away from being able to compete in official tournaments, due to his age.

* Click here to subscribe to Level up! The Esports and Gaming Show, the podcast is available on Spreaker, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.*

Despite his young age, Vejrgang has already amassed a huge global following and regularly streams to around 500,000 people on his Twitch channel, with the youngster currently on a sensational 450-0 winning streak in the FUT Champions competition within the FIFA Ultimate Team game mode.

Speaking about the incident on his YouTube channel, Hesketh acknowledged his actions were wrong and apologised to his opponent.

“I made one distasteful comment, right. ‘His fingers might be quick, but mine are longer,’ and I made a reference to his mother.

“I know a UK base is going to be like, well it’s a mum joke, who hasn’t made a mum joke, and try to defend me.

Fnatic Tekkz (left) with former pro FIFA player Harry Hesketh (right)

“Don’t defend me. At the end of the day he’s 14. It’s a distasteful comment.

“For that I apologise directly to Anders and his mother.”

EA have also released a statement explaining the reasons for Hesketh’s ban, going into detail regarding the rules that were broken during the Twitch broadcast in question.

EA also revealed that Hesketh had previously received a final warning for an official rules and code of conduct violation.

“Suspended in response to language used during a Twitch broadcast on December 12th, 2020 in reference to an opponent’s immediate family member.

“Due to a prior Final Warning for an Official Rules and Code of Conduct violation the penalty in this case is escalated to a one qualifier suspension.

“Specifically, the EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Global Series Code of Conduct violation for which the player is being disinvited is: “Publishing, posting, uploading or distributing content, or organising/participating in any activity, group or guild that EA (acting reasonably and objectively) determines is inappropriate, abusive, hateful, harassing, profane, defamatory, threatening, obscene, sexually explicit, infringing, privacy-invasive, vulgar, offensive, indecent or unlawful”

EA also revealed that they investigated Hesketh for potentially inciting viewers to harass an opponenent, but was cleared of wrongdoing.

“Reports associated with this incident regarding the player inciting viewers to harass an opponent were investigated with the FGSDC.

A screenshot taken from the streamed match between Harry Hesketh and Anders Vejrgang on December 12, 2020.

“The evidence showed actions were taken by the player and his team at the time to denounce the behaviour of viewers and deter them from harassing the opponent. No action will be taken against the player for these reports.”

Esports org Fnatic have also released a statement, confirming that they’ve parted ways with Hesketh. The former professional FIFA player only joined the organisation back in July 2020, linking up with Fnatic Tekkz.

“We have mutually agreed to part ways with Harry Hesketh, to allow him to focus on his own career as a solo content creator.

“Following EA’s statement banning Harry from competing in the upcoming Europe Regional Qualifier, we spoke with Harry about his future as a professional FIFA player.

“Harry informed us of his intention to retire as a player, and we agreed it was best for both parties to terminate his contract with the Black and Orange.

“Despite joining Fnatic in challenging times, Harry’s energy and personality has been a huge asset to Fnatic since his signing.

“We wish him all the best for his career as a content creator.”

FIFA 21 TOTW 18 predictions featuring Eden Hazard and Joao Felix amid TOTY promo

The ongoing FUT 21 TOTY promo could have a big impact on this week’s TOTW 18 lineup, with various big name players ineligible.

Despite Kylian Mbappe, Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski all showing superb form for their domestic clubs this weekend, all three are ineligible for a TOTW inclusion due to be involved in the recent TOTY promo. Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller is also ineligible, after his TOTW 17 inclusion last week.

With only a few Premier League games taking place between the TOTW selection dates, the FIFA 21 TOTW 18 lineup will likely be dominated by the other major European leagues, with PSG, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus and FC Barcelona all registering league wins. However, players from Leicester City, Man City, Burnley, Man Utd and Aston Villa could feature.

FIFA 21 TOTY predictions and leaks with player’s FUT TOTY place confirmed early

FUT fans will finally be able to see the FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI later today, but one player has already been confirmed early.

With the FIFA 21 TOTY voting officially closing on January 18, 2021, EA SPORTS then confirmed that the FIFA 21 Team of the Year Ultimate XI will be revealed on Friday January 22, 2021 at 6pm GMT , but it has not yet been confirmed if the full Ultimate XI will be released into packs at this time, or if they will be released in batches.

In previous FUT TOTY promos, EA ESPORTS have often released the defenders, then the midfielders and then the attackers, rather than releasing the full team all at once. However, FUT TOTY promos also historically start on a Monday, so with the FUT 21 TOTY promo starting on a Friday this year, anything is possible.

* Click here to subscribe to Level up! The Esports and Gaming Show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Spreaker.*

However, ahead of the official FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI announcement, one player has had his FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI inclusion leaked, and by his own football club no less!

Ahead of the FIFA 21 Ultimate XI announcement, we’ve rounded up all of the latest info about the TOTY promo, including the latest leaks, predictions and promo details.

FIFA 21 TOTY Leaks

Although speculation is often rife around FUT promos, particularly regarding leaks and predictions, it’s not very often that a player gets officially confirmed a few hours early, even rarer that it was the player’s own club to announce it!

But that is exactly what has happened with the FUT 21 TOTY promo this year, because although it’s not any great surprise, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been confirmed as being part of the TOTY Ultimate XI for FIFA 21, with City themselves announcing it with a picture of the Belgian holding a TOTY trophy.

No confirmation of his TOTY rating yet though. You can check out the picture below.

There’s been loads of speculation on social media regarding a possible Under-23 TOTY, in place of the popular Future Stars promo that is expected to kick off in a few weeks time, but this looks very unlikely at this stage, particularly with EA announcing the release date and time for the Ultimate XI release.

There was also a full ‘leaked’ TOTY team circulating on social media, but this wasn’t real, as it was a prediction by a FUT community member with the logos taken off. Guess you’ll have to wait until later!

Check out our full FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI predictions below.

FIFA 21 TOTY (Team of the Year) Predictions

The FUT 20 TOTY squad was as follows; Alisson ( Liverpool ), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Matthijs de Ligt ( Juventus ), Andy Robertson (Liverpool); N’Golo Kante ( Chelsea ), Frenkie de Jong (FC Barcelona ), Kevin De Bruyne ( Manchester City ), Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona), Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain). Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) was named as the 12th TOTY squad member.

So, who would feature in the FUT 21 Team of the Year (TOTY) squad? Check out our predictions below.

  • GK: Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern Munich, Germany)
  • RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold ( Liverpool FC, England)
  • CB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool FC, The Netherlands)
  • CB: Sergio Ramos ( Real Madrid, Spain)
  • LB: Alphonso Davies (FC Bayern Munich, Canada)
  • CM: Thiago Alcantara (FC Bayern Munich, now Liverpool, Spain)
  • CM: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City, Belgium)
  • CAM: Bruno Fernandes ( Manchester United, Portugal)
  • RW: Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona, Argentina)
  • ST: Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern Munich, Poland)
  • ST: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus, Portugal)

FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI Prediction

12th player prediction: Sadio Mane (Liverpool, Senegal)

FIFA 21 TOTY Promo Release Date confirmed

The FIFA 21 TOTY Ultimate XI will be released on Friday January 22, 2021 , EA SPORTS confirmed on their official website.

On the FUT 21 Team of the Year web page, there is now a statement confirming the TOTY release date, with the statement also confirming that the vote is now closed.

“The votes for the FIFA 21 Team of the Year are being counted. See who made the Ultimate XI on January 22!”

There is also an additional statement on the ‘About TOTY’ page, confirming that Friday January 22 is the date when these players will be released into the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.

“The final Team of the Year XI will be announced on January 22, when special TOTY player items featuring some of the highest ratings of the season will be released in FUT 21 to celebrate each player’s incredible performances over the course of a year like no other.”

UPDATED January 20: As for the FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI release time, that was confirmed by a brand new FUT loading screen, which went live on Tuesday evening within the FIFA 21 Ultimate Team game mode.

New FUT 21 loading screen shows TOTY Ultimate XI release time (screenshot taken at 11:18 on January 20)

The loading screen confirms the release time for the FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI as 6pm GMT on Friday, January 22.

This means that this year’s FUT TOTY promo bucks the trend of previous FUT seasons, as normally the TOTY campaign begins on a Monday, with different positions being released into packs throughout the week.

But, for FUT 21, it seems that the full FUT 21 TOTY Ultimate XI will be released into packs instantly, and probably the 12th man too.

For example in FUT 20, the TOTY promo began on Monday January 6, 2020. In FUT 19, the TOTY promo began on Monday January 7, 2019. The TOTY has often started earlier too, as you can see from the release dates, but with the real-life season starting late, it makes sense for EA SPORTS to delay the TOTY promo too.

FIFA 21 TOTY Promo – What we know so far

Within any FIFA Ultimate Team season there are always a number of big FUT promos, where highly-rated player items are released into packs, these include FUT promos such as Headliners, Future Stars, Rulebreakers, Freeze, FUTMAS, TOTGS, Winter Refresh, FUT Birthday and many more.

But, the FIFA 21 Team of the Year (TOTY) is the biggest and most popular FUT promo, with the event featuring a selection of players based on their performances over the last calendar year, who are given special blue FUT items with significant upgrades and the best ratings of any FUT promo.

UPDATED January 21: The FUT 21 TOTY card design has also been confirmed, with the design now circulating on social media.

Posted by the ever-reliable FIFA Ultimate Team content account @FutWatch, the new card design features gold and blue shapes as is tradition for the TOTY promo, with broken glass design that also extends outside of the card itself, with gold flicks around the edges.

You can check out the confirmed FUT 21 TOTY card design below.

What makes the FUT TOTY promo different to other FUT promos is that the team of eleven players that make up the Team of the Year squad, plus a 12th player, is decided by EA SPORTS FIFA community members by vote, with 70 TOTY Nominees up for selection.

For example, in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team last year, Virgil van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s TOTY items were 99-rated, with Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne given 98-rated TOTY items, whilst Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante and Alisson were given 97-rated TOTY items.

The TOTY is normally made up of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, where each category can contain a player in any position.

FUT 21 TOTY Campaign Highlights:

  • TOTY is football awards, corrected: the Ultimate XI, influenced by the community and for all.
  • FIFA Ultimate Team’s one squad to rule them all, with some of the best items from the entire cycle, available selectively at first and then all at once, for a limited time.
  • Themed puzzle, Squad Building Challenge, and Objective content to support the broader squad driven campaign

*FIFA 21 is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, with the next generation version of the game set to be released on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 on December 4, 2020.

FIFA 21 Title Update live now for PS4, Xbox One (8) and PS5, Xbox Series S/X (7)

The FIFA 21 Title Update 8 is available now on Xbox One and PS4, with next gen consoles due to receive Title Update 7.

For current gen consoles only, FIFA 21 Title Update 8 will include a change where players will now see their own equipped match ball online, rather than their opponents’, something that has been mentioned a lot within the FIFA community.

Other major changes within Title Update 8 include adjustments to the Team Press D-Pad tactic, Stepover and Reverse Step Over skill moves, defender positioning, referee logic and more. There will also be a major visual update included in this patch, with 34 new Starheads and 29 existing Starheads updated, which EA SPORTS say will be activated at a later date through a Server Release.

The latest Title Update (Title Update 8) for FIFA 21 is now available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with the next gen update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X noted below

Gameplay

Made the following changes:

  • Made several adjustments to the Team Press D-Pad Tactic.
    • Decreased the amount of time the Team Press D-Pad Tactic can be active for, before requiring cooldown, from 20 seconds to 15 seconds.
    • Once Team Press is requested, its effect takes 2 seconds to activate.
    • In situations where the defending team is using Team Press and recovers possession, Team Press will not automatically remain active on the following loss of possession.
  • Made several adjustments to Stepover and Reverse Step Over Skill Moves.
    • Both Skill Moves are no longer considered Easy Skill Moves and will be less effective when chained together while moving.
    • The animations for both Skill Moves have been slowed down.
    • Decreased player transition speed when exiting either Skill Move at forward angles.

Addressed the following issues:

  • The goalkeeper sometimes gets stuck to the net geometry and is unable to put the ball into play, resulting in matches not finishing within the expected time.
  • After a defender positioned themselves in front of the ball carrier following a heavy touch, the defender sometimes did not contest the ball.
  • Improved referee penalty kick logic in situations where the goalkeeper dives at the ball carrier’s feet.
  • Improved referee logic when making decisions in breakaway tackling situations outside of the box.
  • When a goalkeeper moved then stood still during a penalty kick, they could sometimes deflect the ball into their own net when it was hit directly at them.
    • This does not affect other types of potential deflections that could occur.
  • In situations where the ball carrier would start a shooting animation, but the shot was cancelled in time, the defender could sometimes perform an unintended blocking animation.

  • The Co-Op widget could stop responding after the Pricing filter was used during a Transfer Market search.

Career Mode

Made the following change:

Haaland’s FIFA 21 rating assessed amid Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool links

Erling Haaland made his debut for Borussia Dortmund exactly one year ago today, scoring a sensational hat-trick in a 23-minute cameo, showcasing his huge talent.

Since then, Haaland has gone on to cement his reputation as one of the best strikers in world football, scoring a frankly ridiculous 35 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions, including eight goals in just six Champions League appearances and 25 goals in 26 league appearances for the German club to-date.

Such form has seen him linked with a host of English clubs ahead of the summer 2021 transfer window, with the latest reports suggesting that Chelsea are targeting the 20-year-old, despite spending big on new signings last summer.

* Click here to subscribe to Level up! The Esports and Gaming Show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Spreaker.*

The Athletic claims the Blues are ready to break the bank to land the Norwegian, with the report also stating that Haaland has a release clause in his contract, which enables clubs to sign him for £66.6m, the clause cannot be triggered until 2022, meaning if clubs want to jump the gun and sign him now they will have to pay significantly more.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with Haaland in the past, so it could be an interesting summer for the Dortmund wonderkid if these sides decide to make a move when the next transfer window opens.

So, amid all of the recent transfer speculation, Mirror Football have assessed Haaland’s FIFA 21 rating in more detail, to see what EA SPORTS make of the talented striker.

Erling Haaland’s FIFA 21 rating assessed

Overall Rating: 85/100

Potential Rating: 92/100

Age: 20

Best Attributes: Shot power (93), spring speed (91), strength (91), finishing (89), positioning (87), reactions (84), composure (83), volleys (83), aggression (83) and long shots (83).

Weak Foot: Three-Star

Skill Moves: Three-Star

Haaland’s current FIFA 21 rating of 85 out of 100 puts him on the same level as players like Dries Mertens, Georginio Wijnaldum, Romelu Lukaku, Mauro Icardi, Hakim Ziyech and Leroy Sane, with the 20-year-old having superb technical, mental and physical attributes on the game.

However, Haaland’s incredible potential rating of 92 out of 100 means that the forward can become as good as Cristiano Ronaldo and better than Robert Lewandowski (91), Kylian Mbappe (90), Mohamed Salah (90) and Sadio Mane (90), with only Lionel Messi (93) rated more highly on FIFA 21.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to break their club record to try and sign Erling Haaland this summer

The forward’s best attribute on FIFA 21 is his shot power (93), with his high sprint speed (91) and finishing (89) attributes making him a very dangerous player on the virtual pitch.

Haaland’s FIFA 21 profile suggests that the striker is already one of the best in the world, but his incredible potential means he could become one of the very best in the world over the next few seasons.

*FIFA 21 is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, with the next generation version of the game set to be released on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 on December 4, 2020.

The voting for the FUT 21 Team of the Year squad began on Thursday January 7, 2021 at 4PM GMT. The FIFA 21 Ultimate Team TOTY voting is live now at EA.COM/TOTY.

Next-gen technology powered by Frostbite delivers an unprecedented level of player fidelity.
