Jordyn Woods Begs For Prayers For Her BF Karl-Anthony Towns After He’s Diagnosed With Covid

Model Jordyn Woods is praying for a ‘speedy recovery’ for her athlete boyfriend Karl-Anthony Towns, after he was diagnosed with coronavirus.

Jordyn Woods, 23, is asking fans to pray for her boyfriend Karl-Anthony Towns, 25, after he tested positive for COVID-19. She took to her Instagram Story on January 16 to thank fans for the outpouring of support, after her beau revealed his diagnosis. “I just wanted to thank you for all of your support, prayers and concern. My family and I all got tested for COVID and the results came back negative so we are all good but continue to pray for Karl for a speedy recovery,” the model wrote.

Her NBA star boyfriend, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has lost 7 family members to the deadly coronavirus, including his mother Jacqueline Towns. Jordyn also penned a message directly to Karl-Anthony, writing, “Be strong @karltowns. You’re a true fighter this is not fair or right that you were put in this position when you were just trying to do your job. You got this,” she wrote, adding the praying hands and heart emojis.

Jordyn added, “Praying for you babe. I know you’re going to pull through. God’s got you and so does your most powerful guardian Angel up there…you’re one of the strongest people I know.” The athlete first revealed his diagnosis after a routine NBA test. “Prior to tonight’s game, I received yet another awful call that I tested positive for COVID. I will immediately isolate and follow every protocol,” he said in a statement. “I pray every day that this nightmare virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all of the necessary precautions. We cannot stop the spread of this virus alone.”

He and Jordyn first confirmed their romance in September after her lavish birthday trip to Mexico. Although the couple have had plenty of positive experiences over the past year, jetting off on tropical vacations together, it has also been a trying time for Karl. He recently opened up about the tragic loss of his mother in a heartrending YouTube video titled “The Toughest Year Of My Life”. “It hurts so bad. Every day,” he said, revealing he had to make the tough decision to “pull the plug” on his 59-year-old mother.

Probably the Minnesota Timberwolves center, Karl-Anthony Cruz, is one of the professional athletes who have been worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic. At just 25 years old, the New Jersey native lost his mother Jacqueline Cruz and six other relatives as a result of complications from COVID-19.

“Before the game tonight, I got another terrible call and I tested positive for COVID. I will isolate myself immediately and follow all protocols. I pray every day that this virus nightmare goes away and I beg you all to continue taking it seriously with all the necessary precautions, “detailed Towns, through social networks.

Towns’s mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, died at age 59 on April 13 of last year due to complications from COVID-19. She had battled the virus for a month, the Timberwolves reported, later the player added that six of his family members had also contracted the virus, including his father that he was able to recover.

“We cannot stop the spread of this virus alone, it must be a group effort from all of us. It breaks my heart that my family, and in particular my father and my sister, continue to suffer anxiety that accompanies this diagnosis, since we all know very well what the end result could be. To my niece and nephew, Jolani and Max, I promise you that I won’t end up in a box with grandma and I will overcome this, ”said the one also selected by the Dominican Republic.

Jordyn Woods’ NBA star boyfriend Karl-Anthony Towns has tested positive for COVID-19

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns announced that he tested positive for coronavirus over Instagram on Friday.

The NBA player, 25, was particularly crestfallen about his diagnosis as his mother, 59-year-old Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, passed away from complications of COVID-19 on April 13.

‘Prior to tonight’s game, I received yet another awful call that I tested positive for COVID,’ Towns wrote.

‘I will immediately isolate and follow every protocol. I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all the necessary precautions.’

He continued: ‘It breaks my heart that my family, and particularly my father and sister continue to suffer from the anxiety that comes along with this diagnosis as we know all too well what the end result could be.’

Addressing his niece and nephew directly, the athlete promised he would ‘not end up in a box next to grandma’ and will ‘beat this.’

‘Praying for you baby. You got this. God’s got you,’ commented Towns’ girlfriend Jordyn Woods, while continuing to help her man grieve seven of his relatives’ deaths, due to COVID-19, since March.

His announcement came shortly after the NBA announced Friday’s game between the Timberwolves and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies was postponed due to the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Last month, during an interview with ESPN about the upcoming NBA season, Towns spoke of seeing a ‘a lot of coffins in the last seven months.’

‘I’ve been through a lot, obviously starting out with my mom,’ Towns said. ‘Last night I got a call that I lost my uncle. I feel like I’ve been hardened a little bit by life and humbled.’

He did not say which other members of his family had passed away.

The NBA star said that he is still trying to process the death of his mother as he looks to protect the rest of his family from the ongoing pandemic.

His father, Karl Sr., also tested positive for coronavirus earlier in the year but has recovered.

‘I have a lot of people who have – in my family and my mom’s family – gotten COVID. I’m the one looking for answers still, trying to find how to keep them healthy.

‘It’s just a lot of responsibility on me to keep my family well-informed and to make all the moves necessary to keep them alive,’ he added.

Towns’ mom Jacqueline Cruz-Towns died on April 13 at the age of 58 after being placed on a ventilator for 19 days.

Weeks prior, he shared an emotional post to Instagram on March 25 in which he wrote that she was on a ventilator and in a medically-induced coma as a result of COVID-19.

‘We need more equipment and we need to help those medical personnel on the front lines,’ he wrote with the video.

He continued: ‘Thank you to the medical staff who are helping my mom. You are all the true heroes! Praying for all of us at this difficult time.’

Afterward, Towns donated $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic to help with testing patients for COVID-19.

Towns later confirmed her death with a touching video showing her by his side at games, press conference and TV appearances.

His mother had been a constant presence through all the large moments of his career, and was often highlighted by fans for her enthusiasm in supporting her son from the crowds.

The basketball star said that he felt compelled to share his mother’s story, detailing how he cared for her on social media, so others would better understand the impact of the pandemic.

‘The right person will bring a lot out of you,’ she told Extra about the relationship last year. ‘We have been friends for a long time.’

Woods was previously linked to Tristan Thompson, after she was reportedly spotted smooching NBA player in the early hours of the morning at his Los Angeles home in January of 2019.

At the time, Thompson was in a relationship with KUWTK star and baby mama Khloé Kardashian, who has since reconciled with. The pair are focused on raising their daughter True, two.

The situation led to Woods having a falling out with the famous family, including the end of her longtime friendship with Kylie Jenner, 23.

Tyson Fury responds to Anthony Joshua’s claim he is a “modern day great”

Tyson Fury has laughed off Anthony Joshua’s claims he is a ‘modern-day great’ – and trolled his rival over his infamous defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr.

Joshua suffered the only defeat of his career so far against Ruiz in June 2019 when the unfancied American shocked the world by stopping the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden.

AJ avenged the defeat with a comfortable points victory in the rematch six months later and was back to his best as he knocked out Kubrat Pulev at Wembley Arena last month.

Joshua tweeted two pictures of himself in training on Wednesday night, captioning: “A great modern day fighter will be able to compete in any era .”

Fury replied to Joshua in typical fashion

But Fury was typically unimpressed.

He replied: “A great? My arse! You got ktfo [knocked the f*** out] by a chubby kid who had 3 weeks notice. You are a great at looking good on pics I must say whit whooo…..xxx.”

Fury and Joshua are on a collision course to meet in 2021 in what would be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

The self-styled Gypsy King has been inactive since beating Deontay Wilder in their rematch in February last year.

Fury and Joshua hold all the heavyweight titles after the 32-year-old claimed the WBC belt from Wilder at the second time of asking following their draw in December 2018.

Anthony Joshua sets retirement date ahead of Tyson Fury clash

Anthony Joshua plans to retire from boxing within the next five years.

Joshua, 31, turned professional in 2013 following his Olympic triumph the year before at the London Games.

He has since won, lost, and then won back three of the four heavyweight world titles – and is in talks with fellow champion Tyson Fury over a summer showdown.

The bitter rivals could clash for all four belts in a bid to determine the first undisputed heavyweight ruler since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

And while Joshua will continue to fight beyond his rivalry with Fury, he already has one eye on retirement.

Anthony Joshua holds three world titles

“This isn’t the start of my career. I’m coming towards the end of my career,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m not someone who lives in the moment and thinks that everything is just like for now. I’m always planning ahead so I’m coming towards the end of my career.

“Five years left and that’s basically an Olympic cycle. I’ve got an Olympic cycle and a little bit more left, so when you see the next Olympics happen is when I’ll be coming to the end of my career and the next generation will be coming through.”

Joshua and Fury have already agreed in principle to fight twice this year.

Their first purse will be split down the middle with the winner earning 60 per cent of the revenue from their second meeting.

The fight is likely to take place in the Middle East with Saudi Arabia the current front runner, although promoter Eddie Hearn revealed this week that Singapore has entered the race.

The coronavirus crisis has ruled out Wembley as a potential venue – although the national stadium would be in play for the rematch.

Hearn also said an agreement could be reached within a fortnight over a fight worth around £200million.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis lead Lakers past Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Anthony Davis and LeBron James each scored 26 points, rallying the Los Angeles Lakers to a 94-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

James added 11 rebounds and seven assists, and Dennis Schroder finished with 12 points for Los Angeles.

“That’s why he’s great,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said of James taking over the game with Davis. “He finds a way to make those superhero-type of plays. Our focus is on making sure we don’t need those superhero-type of plays to close games out.”

Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks and Gorgui Dieng led Memphis with 13 points apiece, and Brandon Clarke added 12 points. Valanciunas finished with 11 rebounds.

On a poor shooting night for both teams, the Lakers were able to depend on James and Davis down the stretch. Los Angeles trailed 79-77 with five minutes left when the two big men combined for a 9-2 run and an 86-81 lead. The final basket came on a dunk by Davis on an assist from James.

James and Davis combined for a run of 15 points late in the fourth to take the lead to 92-83 with 31.1 seconds left.

“I have a lot of confidence in LeBron James in the fourth quarter,” Vogel said. “I don’t really know any other way to say that. I trust him.”

Memphis was able to put together some late baskets to make it close, but couldn’t overtake the Lakers, who won their fourth straight.

“Obviously in a hard fought game like that, you hope to come out with a victory,” Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said. “But our guys were amazing.

“Effort again. But the attention to detail, the execution. These guys, for 48 minutes, were unbelievable. Came up a little short in the end.”

Tyson Fury accuses Anthony Joshua of lying about his tactics for mega-fight

Tyson Fury has dismissed Anthony Joshua’s vow to “knock his head off” as a downright lie.

Fury and Joshua are locked in talks over a £200million mega-fight which is pencilled in for May or June.

The winner would be crowned the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000 – if all four belts are on the line.

Joshua has promised to take the fight to Fury and ensure there is no lingering doubt over the best heavyweight on the planet.

But Fury has swatted aside his rival’s plan, telling Fox Miami : “This fight has been brewing for a long time. They have been avoiding me for a long time and now it’s finally got to happen.

“They either run away from the fight and announce it publicly, or take the fight; either way it’s a lose-lose situation for him.

“It’s a nice quote but it doesn’t mean anything, it’s sticks and stones. People say a lot of stuff and they don’t back it up, so we’ll see.

“I’ve never seen him take anybody’s head off anybody’s shoulders in all of his 22 fights [so it’s] probably a lie… another lie.

“We’ll see if he’s got the guts to try and do it when I’m stood in the ring in front of him. I don’t believe he has.

“I don’t think he’s as good as people crack him up to be, or he doesn’t believe he is, in his own self.

Anthony Joshua has vowed to KO Tyson Fury

“He’s got a confidence issue; he’s coming off two shaky performances.

“Boxing is all about who is in form and who isn’t an on his last two fights he’s not in form, on mine I am. The momentum is with me and I just believe I take him out early, very early; maybe even one round, two rounds.”

Joshua and Fury agreed terms in principle last year to split the purse down the middle.

The fight was dependent on Joshua beating his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev which he did with a ninth-round stoppage.

The British rivals are expected to fight twice with the first meeting likely to take place in the Middle East.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial told they are “nowhere near” full potential

Manchester United forwards Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been urged to step up their games by Red Devils legend Andy Cole.

Martial, 25, has scored twice in 12 Premier League appearances this season as he struggles to follow up his career-best haul of 17 goals last campaign.

The same cannot be said of his strike partner Rashford, 23, who has been in prolific form with seven league goals and 14 in all competitions.

But Cole, who helped Untied win eight major honours with his 121 goals, insists both in-form Rashford and misfiring Martial are capable of much more than their current output.

Rashford and Martial have been spurred on by United hero Cole

“He’s [Martial’s] super talented, he gets in great positions but sometimes his finishing is a bit erratic,” Cole told Sky Sports.

“He hits the goalkeeper, he doesn’t make the right decisions at times but he has all the talent in the world.

“I do genuinely believe, like Marcus [Rashford], he’s nowhere near his full potential.

“He just has to keep persevering and hopefully he’ll go on a good run.

“He’s another one that could get 25 goals, easily.”

Though he has struggled for form in the Premier League this season, Martial opened the scoring as the Red Devils beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Friday night.

Just like his former teammate Cole, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expecting Martial to continue developing and just needs “that little bit of luck”.

“Anthony is going to improve. He is going to be better and better,” Solskjaer said after his side moved level on points with leaders Liverpool.

“He is still creating chances, he’s just not had that little bit of luck, margins in front of goal. They will come.

“We saw a better version of Anthony, a more confident one.”

Bruno Fernandes’ hidden role in Anthony Martial’s Man Utd opener vs Aston Villa

Anthony Martial scored Manchester United’s first goal of 2021 with a well-worked move against Aston Villa.

In a break from the norm in recent weeks, playmaker Bruno Fernandes was not involved in the goal as a Marcus Rashford flick set free Aaron Wan-Bissaka down the right flank.

From there, the full-back – often criticised for his lack of attacking output – provided a fine cross for Martial to nod into the back of the net before the half-time break.

Whilst man of the moment Fernandes did not add another goal involvement to pick up where he left off in 2020, comments from Wan-Bissaka in the matchday programme suggest he had a hidden role in the goal.

The right-back noted how coaches have been working hard to involve him in attacking link-up such as the move which saw him setup Martial.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka provided the assist for Anthony Martial’s opener in a rare Man Utd goal not directly involving Bruno Fernandes

And he also revealed Fernandes has taken it upon himself to give him tailored advice before games regarding which runs to make.

Whilst the Portuguese maestro was not involved in the move which carved up Aston Villa, his tips certainly seemed to pay off.

“I do work on it (attacking). The staff are helping me do that all the time in training,” Wan-Bissaka told United’s matchday programme.

Who was Man of the Match in Manchester United vs Aston Villa? Have your say here.

Man Utd and Fernandes have been working hard to unlock Wan-Bissaka’s attacking capabilities

“They like me to go up and link with the attack, when I can.

“He helps everyone – on and off the pitch,” Wan-Bissaka said about Fernandes.

“He tells me before the game what he thinks I should do and which positions he thinks I should get into when he gets the ball, and where I should be.

He has done it with the other players, and I can see that, along with the impact that he has made.”

Wan-Bissaka was criticised for switching off and allowing Jack Grealish space to set up Bertrand Traore’s leveller in the second half.

But Fernandes soon got in on the act and found the net from the penalty spot after Paul Pogba was fouled to score what proved to be the winner.
