Ludhiana/ 12 people crossing railway track hit by Amritsar Shatabdi Express, 3 dead

Ludhiana. Shatabdi Express going to Amritsar at the Gyaspura gate on the Ludhiana-Delhi railway line hit 12 people. It killed 3 people, while several people were injured. The accident happened at 8:10 pm on Saturday. All the people were crossing the tracks despite the gates being closed.

According to eyewitnesses, the Shatabdi Express had reached near the Gyaspura gate when only 10-12 people standing on the lines crossed the gate and were hit by the train. The vehicles on board the people were flung for several meters and were damaged. The dead and injured were taken by their family members and police to hospitals by 108 ambulances. The deceased have been identified as Gurpreet Kaur, Ratnajit Singh and Gurdeep Singh. Many people, including Arjun Kumar and Sunny, were admitted to private hospitals.

Filed a case of trace passing, 5 vehicles seized

Area Chief Manager of Ludhiana Railway, Parminder Singh said that the matter is of trace passing. After the closure of the railway gate, the people who brought their vehicles on the track have been hit by the train. Police have seized 5 vehicles. On the other hand, GRP DSP Pradeep Sandhu said that a case of trace passing is being registered on those who have been hit by the train. There is no fault of any railway official in the case.
