How Brad Pitt and Jen Aniston were talked into reunion that almost didn’t happen

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt delighted fans everywhere as they reunited on-screen for the table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – and it was all thanks to comedian Dane Cook.

Dane has revealed just how he managed to bring his star-studded cast together – specifically famous exes Jennifer and Brad, who were joined by Julia Roberts, Shia LaBeouf, Matthew McConaughey and Henry Golding.

Speaking to Maria Menounos on her podcast Better Together with Maria Menounos Dane confessed that he needed to secure big names to pull off the masterpiece, and first on his list were the Friends  alum.

He said: “When I text [Jennifer], she was – I’m not trying to make it more fluffy – she could not have been more delightful, game, excited.

Fans were blown away that Dane managed to get the pair together

“Again, I knew once those first few names were in there, when Brad Pitt…started coming in, I was like, ‘Yes! This is gonna happen.'”

Dane confirmed that Jen agreed to participate before Brad, and when he did, Dane knew the table read would go ahead.

“Once his team talked to him, I’m sure it was just like, ‘Here’s already in there so far.’ There was no hesitation, there was no rules, there was no, nothing,” Dane pointed out.

Jennifer agreed to it first then Brad

There was no drama between them

“There wasn’t anything like… were they not allowed… No! Zero. No drama.”

“They both locked in. What you saw was absolutely what we had hoped.

“Which was just nice engagement between two massive, incredibly talented people!”

The reading almost didn’t want to go ahead

Despite Dane’s efforts things didn’t go completely to plan in the run-up to the reunion, and it almost didn’t go ahead.

It was originally scheduled for the spring but because of the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement it was pushed back.

“The dilemma was we wanted to do this back like in April, and I think it fell apart completely at least five times,” Dane revealed.

“There were life things happening in the world, and the protests started, and that put the pause on it. And then it just stopped.”

Dane wasn’t entirely sure it would “come to fruition” after all of the set backs, but it was Sean Penn who encouraged him not to give up on it  – and thankfully he didn’t otherwise we wouldn’t have seen Jen and Brad reunite.
