Man Utd round-up: Bayern ‘annoyed’ by Thiago bid, full-back chase steps up

[ad_1]

Manchester United fans are still eagerly awaiting their club’s first kick in the Premier League, with Donny van de Beek showing flashes of his ability during a pre-season meeting with Aston Villa at the weekend.

Away from the pitch, the club’s primary focus is new faces. Jadon Sancho is the club’s priority target, and the player fans are desperate to see at Old Trafford. The precarious nature of those talks means United may need to pursue other targets.

That could be anyone from Gareth Bale to Ivan Perisic. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also not ruling out the possibility of adding defensive recruits to his squad as the team prepare to try and barge past Liverpool and Manchester City and secure a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson departed the club.

Solskjaer’s first season at the club was a success in the sense it saw the club confirm a spot in the Champions League, but a lack of depth let down their Europa League campaign, and this is what Solskjaer will be desperate to try and rectify before the window closes in October.

With that in mind here are the latest transfer rumours.

Sergio Reguilon could finally be set to complete a Man Utd move

Manchester United preparing bid for Spanish defender

Manchester United are in talks to sign Sergio Regulion and are preparing a bid for the defender according to Marca’s Jose Felix Dias.

The Spanish full-back has spent the season on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid, and likely caught Manchester United’s eye during their Europa League meeting – a game in which Sevilla emerged victorious on route to winning the competition.

It is believed he is available for transfer, and Marca claim that United are preparing a bid in the region of €25million.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

However, they have so far failed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund and are considering Gareth Bale as an alternative.

“Faced with this situation, both parties (player and club) have found the perfect destination at Manchester United,” the report states.

“Reguilón will be able to play and feel important, in addition to joining an attractive team and in which he has players already known to him, such as David de Gea and Juan Mata.”

Fabrizio Romano has further corroborated that. The Italian transfer specialist has confirmed that Sevilla are out of the race for the defender which clears a path for Man Utd to agree a deal with Los Blancos.

Manchester United will sign Porto left-back before the transfer window shuts

Manchester United are preparing a deal worth £18million for Alex Telles, according to the Daily Express.

Telles, 27, has been a strong performer for FC Porto and has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years.

Left-back Alex Telles could also be set for a Man Utd move

The report states that with a deal for Sergio Regulion looking increasingly unlikely they will turn their attention to Telles before the transfer window closes in October.

There had been growing confidence that Regulion would arrive at Old Trafford. Still, Portuguese outlet A Bola (via the Express) say that the player is unwilling to move without a buyback clause inserted in his contract.

That would clear the path for the club to sign Telles from Porto, with a fee in the region of £18milion suggested.

Bayern Munich are ‘annoyed’ by Man Utd’s move for Thiago Alcantara

Bayern Munich are said to be “annoyed” by Man Utd’s approach to bidding for Thiago Alcantara, according to TalkSport.

Bayern are reportedly ‘annoyed’ by a Man Utd approach for Thiago

The former Barcelona midfielder wants to leave the Bundesliga champions this season to enjoy a new challenge and is now in the final year of his contract with the club. Uli Hoeness, the club’s former president, believes that both Liverpool and United are circling the player.

“Both Liverpool and Manchester United did not come to us with an offer for Thiago,” he said. “They are bluffing and waiting until the last week of the window to make a cheap offer. Bayern must decide whether they want to play this game or stand their ground and keep him.”

Talksport state that United’s hesitancy in making an official offer has irked Bayern and could hamper any move for Thiago.
