Gareth Bale is reportedly keen on joining Manchester United for the season on loan after the Red Devils failed to lure Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford.

It’s thought that they will go back in for the Borussia Dortmund star next summer.

That leaves them in a predicament for next season, and needing an extra pair of attacking legs.

Real Madrid want away star Bale could be that man, according to The Times, with bookmakers slashing the odds on the the Welshman making the move to Old Trafford.

But where could Bale fit in to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current system as he eyes success in the Premier League and Champions League?

Gareth Bale has admitted he would be open to a return to the Premier League

Bale’s most natural position is still thought to be on the right-wing, though he can also operate through the middle.

That means he would literally fill that hole for the time being as Sancho would also have been put on that flank.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford will likely play on the left wing, with Mason Greenwood proving back up for him.

And up front will most commonly be Anthony Martial – Odion Ighalo will offer him competition, as will most of the attacking players who are eyeing a chance at playing up front.

Bale admitted recently that he was open to the idea of a move back to the Premier League, though he conceded that the situation was out of his hands.

“If those options arise, it is something I’d look at for sure,” he told Sky Sports. “We’ll see what happens, we have plenty of time in this transfer window and a couple of others as well.

“Time will tell but mainly I think the reason is that the decision is in Real Madrid’s hands.”
