Man Utd’s long-term Jadon Sancho concern as clock ticks down on transfer

[ad_1]

Manchester United are concerned failure to sign Jadon Sancho this summer will lead to stiff competition from some of Europe’s big guns next year.

The clock is ticking down on United landing their priority target with just three weeks of the transfer window remaining.

Borussia Dortmund have previously stressed they do not want to be taken to the final stages of the window with a potential deal still on the table.

The Bundesliga club are also not willing to relax their £108million valuation of Sancho either which United are still apprehensive about meeting.

As the deadline draws nearer United are now considering other targets with a view to coming back for Sancho at a later date.

That could welcome other clubs into the race though, and ESPN report United are concerned the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool may well enter the equation.

Sancho is believed to be open to a move to United this summer but the presence of interest from other clubs could sway such a decision in future.

United remain hopeful a deal can be concluded in the coming weeks but Dortmund’s stance seems pretty clear.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

However, they have so far failed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund and are considering Gareth Bale as an alternative.

Dortmund are under no pressure to sell Sancho, who they persuaded to extend his contract by a further year earlier this summer.

That would put them in a similarly strong negotiating position next summer, and Lucien Favre’s comments suggest the Dortmund boss is not planning for a season without his star man.

It is thought United would still be keen to land Sancho in 12 months time if they are unable to get a deal over the line in 2020.

Another good season for Sancho could push his value higher though, particularly if there is more than one club in the race.

United are weighing up several alternative targets in the event they do not sign Sancho, with Douglas Costa, David Brooke, Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale all among the names mentioned.
