Man Utd dealt transfer blow as Sergio Reguilon ‘makes decision’ on future

Sergio Reguilon would prefer a return to Sevilla rather than a move to Manchester United, according to reports in Spain.

The left back played a key role in the La Liga side’s Europa League success which saw them beat the Red Devils in the semi-finals.

Reguilon was on loan at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán from Real Madrid, who are prepared to offload the player.

They are however determined to insert a £27m buy-back clause which is an issue for United, reports AS.

Zinedine Zidane has no plans to include Reguilon going forward despite the 23-year-old making his Spain debut recently.

Sevilla though do not want to sign the player on a permanent basis which could allow United to steal a march.

The Premier League outfit though are reluctant to include a buy-back clause amid fears Reguilon could establish himself at Old Trafford, only to leave when Madrid come calling.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose only major signing this summer is Donny van de Beek, is keen to add where he can in the coming weeks.

The Norwegian though is wise to the current financial situation that most clubs find themselves in.

“It’s been a strange time and a strange world,” he told MUTV.

“Financially, I’m sure loads of clubs have suffered. It looks like it as there has not been a lot of activity in the window.

“We’re always looking to improve the squad, scouting players and, if something fits, both the financial bit and the football bit, of course we’ll try to make some business.

“But we can’t know how the markets and how other clubs have been affected either.”

Napoli are also interest in the defender and could receive a huge cash injection if they sell Kalidou Koulibaly.
