IPL 2020: ‘Thalaivan’ MS Dhoni will take care, says CSK CEO after Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh pull-out

Chennai Super Kings was rocked by as many as 13 positive coronavirus cases after arriving in the UAE for IPL 2020. The team hand’t even recovered from this news when their star batsman Suresh Raina pulled out of the tournament and decided to come back to India. Now, on Friday, star off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also decided against going to the Gulf nation and joining his team.

The Chennai-based franchise was also the last team to start their practice sessions because of the prolonged quarantine days due to the Covid-19 cases. The team is on the field now and training since Friday. The videos posted by their social media team showed MS Dhoni and his boys looking in good spirits ahead of their opener on September 19.

A fan had recently enquired about CSK’s new deputy after the exit of Suresh Raina. Replying to the query, Twitter handle said, “Why worry when we have a wise-captain?’

Now, team’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan has expressed his confidence in MS Dhoni and said that the talismanic captain will “definitely” tae care of the team. Viswanathan added that MS Dhoni had pulled the team out of many such situations.

Kasi Viswanathan, in a video message to CSK fans, said that all the players are in good frame of mind and pumped up for the upcoming IPL 2020 matches. He asserted that ‘yellow’ fever’ was sure to catch up throughout the country and the “important” fans should not stop rooting for their team.

“This is to confirm that the team is in very good shape, we need not worry. We have a skipper who have navigated us through very tough times. Thalaivan will definitely take care of the team and we are very confident, we have started practice from yesterday, a day before.

“The players are also in quite good spirit. They have had regular Zoom meeting where the coach and captain have addressed the players and all of them are in a good frame of mind. We will come out of the tough situation and very happy to report that team is in very good shape to take care of the matches coming up in the IPL.

“I am very confident that the Chennai Super Kings fan club will definitely look up to the team which is very confident of doing well and I sure that the ‘yellow fever’ will catch up throughout the country and also in Dubai where we have a very good following. Fans of CSK are very important to team and we look forward to your support,” Kasi Viswanathan.

BCCI released the IPL 2020 fixtures on Sunday and it was confirmed that the 3-time champions will face defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on September 19 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
