Man Utd transfer round-up: Tonali offer denied, interest in Reguilon mounts
[ad_1]
Manchester United caught the eye of many during the second half of last season’s Premier
League.
With the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes and Anthony
Martial, United were in blistering form at times last season.
The form of that quartet, and their team-mates, ensured United would be playing Champions
League football this season.
With that being said, there is plenty to improve on still, and it seems that the United
hierarchy have recognised that, and with that in mind, here are today’s latest transfer
rumours.
Thiago wage demands causing problem
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has contacted Bayern Munich midfielder
Thiago about a potential move to Old Trafford, according to transfer specialist Jan Aage
Fjortoft.
However, as Fjortoft has tweeted, Thiago’s wage demands are currently too high and that
could mean United may look elsewhere.
The Spanish playmaker is entering the final season of his contract with the newly-crowned
champions of Europe.
Liverpool, as well as United, have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old former
Barcelona star.
United “very interested” in Real Madrid defender
Manchester United are very interested in signing Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon,
according to Spanish outlet AS.
Reguilon looks set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, after finding out that he is
not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans at the club.
The 23-year-old spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Sevilla, and helped the Spanish
giants become Europa League champions once again.
Reguilon is tempted by Solskjaer’s side, the report states, and he has been guaranteed first-
team football if he does move to Old Trafford.
United deny Tonali offer
Manchester United have denied claims made by Brescia president Massimo Cellino that
they made an offer for Sandro Tonali, who is on the brink of signing for AC Milan.
The 20-year-old has been advised by his agent to remain in the Serie A to continue his
strong development.
Cellino, the former owner of Leeds United, claimed that United made an offer to Brescia for
Tonali, which was €10m more than what Milan offered, but he didn’t want the move to
Manchester.
However, United have strongly denied those claims by the Brescia president, according to a
report from the Manchester Evening News.
Roma bid €12m for Smalling
Roma have made a €12m offer to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on a
permanent deal, according to a report by Goal.
Smalling spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, and had a strong
campaign with the Serie A club.
The English defender found himself without first-team football at United and decided to try
and rediscover that elsewhere.
Now, the report states that Roma have made a €12m bid for the 30-year-old, but Solskjaer
would welcome him back into the United squad this season.
