Ajax are set to cash in on the sale of Donny van de Beek to Manchester United – and it could have major implications for Luis Suarez.

The midfielder is set to move to Old Trafford in a £40million deal which will be completed in the coming days.

According to reports in Spain, Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has now made a transfer promise to Luis Suarez and vowed to use the cash to try and bring him back to Amsterdam.

Sport claim that Overmars is hopeful the money they land from Van de Beek can fund a move to bring back Suarez, who is out of favour at Barcelona.

He has been up front to the Uruguayan about the situation and vowed to present an economic proposal in the coming days.

But it might prove too late with Juventus also eyeing the ex-Liverpool man, who has been told he is surplus to requirements in the Nou Camp overhaul.

There is also a chance Sergino Dest could leave Ajax to add to their financial power after being hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Suarez, meanwhile, is attempting to agree a deal to terminate his contract with Barcelona, although it may cost the Catalan club £12million.
