Manchester United’s summer transfer window is finally bursting into life.
And fans are already getting excited by the tantalising prospect of adding both Donny van de Beek and Dayot Upamecano to their ranks.
Mirror Sport understands Van de Beek will pen a five-year deal with an option for an extra year in the coming days.
And it has now been reported by ESPN that Upamecano is next in line as Solskjaer prioritises a move for a centre-back to line-up alongside Harry Maguire
A move for Upamecano could see them add a dominant centre-back to strengthen their back four, joining Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the third big-money defender purchased under Solskjaer.
The arrival of Van de Beek is likely to see him used in rotation with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, offering a different option as an attacking midfielder.
But he could even line-up in the same midfield as Pogba and Fernandes to form a top class trio with a wealth of attacking talent when they face sides they feel they can overrun.
With Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood in attack there would be no shortage of goals and firepower for Solskjaer.
Where would this Man Utd side finish in the Premier League? Have your say here.
And the presence of Upamecano as a towering physical presence alongside the rock solid Maguire could give them the defensive strength to cope.
Van de Beek and Upamecano’s additions would give plenty of depth to Solskjaer’s squad ahead of their Champions League return.
The likes of Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay offer different options and more defensive capabilities in midfield.
Victor Lindelof has also impressed alongside Maguire in recent months and is unlikely to give up his starting spot without a fight even if Upamecano arrives.
