Model exposes email sent by an agent that warns girls not to ‘eat themselves silly’ over holidays

A horrific email that was allegedly sent to models at One Management has been exposed online, revealing how the women were supposedly warned not to ‘eat themselves silly’ over the holidays. 

A screenshot of the message was shared on the S*** Model Management Instagram account, which is run by an anonymous model who uses her social media platform to highlight the abuse and hardships she and others face in the fashion industry. 

‘To my dear mother agents and lovely models,’ the email begins, ‘Happy holiday! I wanted to take this time to remind you to keep in mind our model diet over holidays. The girls sometimes eat themselves silly over holiday break and come to NYC and expect to do the shows blown up like tics.’

‘We need to make sure we maintain our bodies, eating healthy and remaining a 34 on the hips for the designers here in NYC,’ the message continues. 

‘I will expect bikini digitals and walking video of all the girls the 1st week of January to ensure that no one gets on the plane and has to be sent back, as we had to did last February to a few particularly hungry ladies. THANKS!!!!! And lots of love to you all.’

The email is alleged to have been written by Lanny Zenga, a longtime professional model scout, who worked for One Management from 2013 to 2016, according to his LinkedIn profile. 

DailyMail.com has reached out to One Management and Zenga for comment. 

‘This is why models get eating disorders!! It is constantly encouraged,’ the model who runs the account wrote. ‘These models were probably worried sick over the holidays, scared to enjoy meals with their family, because this email was looming over their heads.  

‘And for him to threaten/punish them with digitals RIGHT when they get back… it’s f***** up.’

In response to the email, she posted a message from another model, Olivia Martin, who detailed how unhealthy it is for most tall women to maintain a 34-inch hip measurement. 

‘Do you guys know how impossible it is for someone older than 20 to be 5’10 and have a 34 inch hip?’ she wrote. ‘To accomplish this they literally have to be like 110 (at most) pounds which gives them an anorexic BMI for someone of that height. 

‘And I know this because that’s my personal experience as those were always my measurements and my weight.’

Martine, who has struggled with anorexia, stressed that no matter how hard a model works out, ‘a 34 inch hip is nearly impossible for someone so tall.’ 

‘This industry is not healthy, please normalize healthy models and hold people accountable for now,’ she continued.

Toward the end of her post, she explained that many models have problems having heart issues, fertility trouble, and anxiety, among other things, after years of starving themselves. 

‘You repost our pictures and adore our campaigns while we are literally killing ourselves to produce it,’ she noted. 

The account also shared other people’s responses to the email, including one person who called it ‘psychological abuse.’

‘My modeling babies, no matter how big of an agency you sign with PLEASE, PLEASE do not let this behavior be put onto you,’ the Instagram user wrote. ‘These people are not looking out for you, and moreover this is psychological abuse at it’s [sic] finest. 

‘Do not let these people shame you over something as normal and natural as bodies fluctuating. This is not an agency you want to be represented by, no matter how big or glamorous they may be.’
