Eid Mubarak | Eid al Adha | Bakrid | Eid ul Adha | Eid ul Azha
Bakri Eid is one of the most pious festivals celebrated by Muslims across the world. Also known as Eid-ul-Adha, the festival will be celebrated on the evening of August 11 to 12 this year and m arks the end of Hajj, which all Muslims are required to undertake at least once in their lives.
Also known as the ‘Sacrificial Feast’, this day is celebrated in honour of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and true faith in Allah. It is believed that Ibrahim was once asked to sacrifice the one thing which was the dearest to him to prove his love and faith and to honour this, Ibrahim decided to sacrifice his son. When God saw this, he decided to send his angel to replace his son with a goat. In remembrance, people sacrifice a goat to renounce Prophet Ibrahim’s faith in God.
On Eid, usually a goat is sacrificed and it is divided to be distributed amongst three sections- one to relatives, friends, and neighbours, to the last one to the poor and needy and the remaining portion is enjoyed by the family.
To celebrate the occasion, sweets and delicacies are prepared and wishes are offered to the Prophet to seek blessings. People also visit each other, greeting them by saying ‘Eid Mubarak’.
If you want to wish your loved one this year or spread the holiday cheer, here are some sample wishes, greetings, and messages you can send to your friends and family. You can also share these on your social media platform to greet one another!
