The CB-CID has arrested three more policemen in connection in the Tuticorin custodial deaths case of Jayaraj and Beniks, who were mercilessly beaten up and sodomised in custody before they died of the injuries.
Sub Inspector Balakrishnan and constables Muthuraj and Murugan are the latest to be arrested in the case that has triggered national outrage and has brought Tamil Nadu Police under massive scrutiny. A total of 4 police officials have been arrested so far.
Sub Inspector Ragu Ganesh, who was in suspension, was arrested on Wednesday while the other three were arrested early morning on Thursday.

IG Shankar said, “We have changed the charges to include murder charges. We are talking to other people and will take action post inquiry. In the preliminary investigation has led us to narrowing down on four people. We will see how the case progresses.”

CB-CID arrested Raghu Ganesh late on Wednesday night shortly after state Law Minister Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam assured that the government would ensure “highest punishment” to those responsible for the deaths of P Jeyaraj and his son Bennicks, who were allegedly thrashed at the police station recently.
Earlier, a woman head constable witness to the happenings told a magisterial probe that the two traders were thrashed an entire night by the other police personnel at Sathankulam station where they were detained over alleged lockdown violations late last month.
