Praveen Tambe sent name for CPL, but first to retire from domestic cricket

According to board rules, any player will be allowed to play domestic T20 league in another country only if he retires from all types of domestic cricket including IPL.

Mumbai’s experienced leg-spinner Praveen Tambe has sent his name for the draft of the Caribbean Premier League players. But until he retires from Indian domestic cricket, he is not expected to get permission from the BCCI. The BCCI did not allow 48-year-old Praveen Tambe to play in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as he played in an invalid T10 league in Abu Dhabi.

According to board rules, any player will be allowed to play domestic T20 league in another country only if he retires from all types of domestic cricket including IPL. Yuvraj Singh did the same before playing the Global T20 League in Canada.

Praveen Tambe first came into the limelight when he made his IPL debut at the age of 41 and became the oldest player to play in this breathtaking T20 league. Copper has played 33 IPL matches and taken 28 wickets at an average of 30.46.

CPL is scheduled to take place between closed doors in Trinidad and Tobago between August 18 and September 10, only after permission from local authorities. However, when contacted by an official of the Caribbean Premier League, he clarified that at present, the league has not made any announcement regarding the players.
