Police said the recovered bottles contained both beer and hard liquor. The police arrested Selvakumar, the driver of Ramya, on charges of smuggling liquor. According to some local journalists, Ramya Krishnan was also present in the car at the time of the incident, though some people also told that Ramya reached the police station after getting information about the incident with her sister.

Police say the state is prohibited from selling or bringing liquor to the city, according to lockdown restrictions. Ramya Krishnan has not said anything about it so far. It is being told that the police has released the driver on a personal bond.
