Tuticorin. A city in Tamil Nadu. Here, five including three boys are accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl and threatening to kill her. Fearing the accused, the victim set herself on fire. She is undergoing treatment. Based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, the police have registered a case and arrested the accused.
We spoke to Marisamy associated with India Today for information about this matter. He said that the victim was constantly receiving sexual harassment and death threats over the phone. Fed up with repeated threatening calls, the victim closed her phone on 8 May. The same night, the accused reached the victim’s house. And shouted at her for turning off the phone. They said that if she did not come to their place of call on 9 May, they would trap her and kill her.
With this fear, the victim set herself on fire on 9 May. But he was somehow rescued and admitted to a government hospital. Where his life could be saved. But the victim has a deep wound due to burns on his throat and chest. He is being treated. The video of the victim’s social media is going viral. In which she is narrating the tragedy.

According to the police, based on the video and the statement of the mother, a case has been registered against the accused under Poxo and other sections of the IPC. Four special teams were formed to investigate the matter. And within 48 hours the police had arrested the five accused.
