Palghar A mild earthquake was felt in many areas of Palghar in Maharashtra on the morning of 6 March. An official said that there is no news of loss of life or property in it. At the same time earthquake tremors were felt in Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir.
Santosh Kadam, head of Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell, said that the earthquake was 3.1 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was in Dundalwadi village. There was a mild earthquake in the same area last week as well. This type of earthquake has been happening in Dahanu area of Palghar since November 2018 and most of these have been the center of Dundalwadi village.
The tremor was felt in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday morning, the intensity of which was measured at 3.1. The meteorological department gave this information. Director of Shimla Meteorological Center Manmohan Singh said that the earthquake was felt at 7.03 am. This was the eighth earthquake in Chamba district in the last 11 days.
Singh said that the epicenter of the earthquake was five kilometers northeast of Chamba. Mild tremors were felt in the surrounding areas. Earlier, seven earthquakes of 3 to 4.5 magnitude occurred in the district from 27 to 30 March. Most parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Chamba, fall in the high earthquake sensitive area. A low intensity earthquake was felt in Jammu and Kashmir.
