Suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Councillor Tahir Hussain has filed an Anticipatory Bail plea in Karkardooma Court. The Anticipatory bail plea is listed for hearing on Wednesday in Karkardooma court.

Sessions Judge Sudhir Kumar Jain will be hearing suspended AAP councilor Tahir Hussain’s bail plea on Wednesday.

Tahir Hussain, who currently is absconding, has been in the eye of a storm for his alleged involvement in the recent North East Delhi riots and the killing of an Intelligence Bureau (I-B) staffer whose body was recovered from a drain near Hussain’s house in the Chand Bagh area.

Delhi Police last week conducted raids at several locations to nab the suspended AAP councillor. The police registered an FIR against Tahir Hussain under sections 365 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in which the maximum punishment is life imprisonment or death.

However, Tahur Hussain had denied any involvement in the riots or the killing of the 26-year-old I-B staffer — whose family accused Hussain of being behind the murder — saying these are “baseless accusations”.

Tahir Hussain called for an impartial probe into the incident and said action should be taken against the guilty.

“It is wrong to target me. I and my family have nothing to do with it,” Hussain had said.

The suspended AAP leader had also demanded strict action against BJP leaders responsible for giving inflammatory speeches.
