The 15th edition of the world’s second largest auto show ‘Auto Expo 2020’ began with a media event on Wednesday in Greater Noida. After this two-day event, the expo will open for the general public. During this period, the country’s largest company Maruti-Suzuki had its first electric-car Futuro-e on the theme of ‘Mission Green Million’, while Tata introduced its Sierra EV concept SUV. After this, Reno, Tata Motors, Kia, Mahindra, Mercedes, Hyundai, Volkswagen and first time MG Motors are showing their new versions and advanced technology. The entire focus of the companies is on the electric vehicle and SUV segment.

Tata’s Sierra returned after 20 years, this time like an electric vehicle
Tata has introduced its 20-year-old popular Sierra brand to Ratan Tata as a concept electric vehicle with Tribute. It will not have four but only three doors. The company management claims that it is an electric car being developed completely according to the Indian market. Looking at its first look, it is understood that it is inspired by Land Rover Defender. The look is bulky and muscular along with the headlight and the rest of the exquisite slick. The company first launched Sierra in 1991 and stopped production in 2000.
Tata Motors showed strength with the Gravita
Tata Motors has shown the most strength on the first day of the expo. Tata Motors has launched its flagship SUV Gravitas, 3-door SUV Sierra, truck model Prima, besides Tiago, Tiago, Tigor, Altroz Altroz, Nexon and Winger. Mahindra launched first SUV ekuv
Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its electric SUV ekuv car at the expo. Its price is 8.25 lakh rupees. The car can be run up to 150 km in a single charge. The e-KUV100 concept was introduced at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Mahindra eKUV100 can be launched with an 18.5kWh battery. This car will give power of 41 PS and torque of 91 Nm. This electric SUV car will cover 150 to 180 km in single charging. Pawan Goenka, managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We will focus on the shared mobility segment through e-KUV.” Its price is less than 9 lakh rupees. ‘
The new electric car from Mahindra will give a tough competition to its existing lineup eVerito (Everito), as well as the Tata Tigor EV (Tata Tigor EV), which starts at Rs 9.12 lakh and Rs 9.44 lakh.
German company Volkswagen brought new SUV family
Volkswagen India has launched its biggest SUV Offensive at Auto Expo 2020. It includes Make in India Tygun, T-Rock and 7 seater Tiguan Allspace. Volkswagen also launched its new brand design with a series of luxurious and sporty cars. This rebranding is based on the theme of ‘Vibrant Power’. At Auto Expo 2020, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India director Stephen Knapp said that with the premiere of Volkswagen’s SUV family in India, the needs of each segment of customers will be met over the next two years. Volkswagen Tygun MQB is the first product manufactured in AO platform platform. This SUV is a DSG gear box with Volkswagen’s TSI technology. Futuro-e is SUV look, fully designed in India
Suzuki’s Futuro-e is a four-seater, which means there will be a seating area of 4. Right now its initial price is being said to be 15 lakh rupees. The company has introduced it in gray metallic color and the body is quite sleek. Speaking on the occasion, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of the company said that Futuro-E has been completely conceptualized and designed in India.
It is the first car to have an electric SUV type coupe and hopes that it will bring a new trend in the design of electric vehicles. It has a roofline slope while the tires are large with arches giving it a sporty SUV look. We are bringing smart hybrid, CNG and electric vehicles to India to reduce carbon emissions.
Renault launches Tribar AMT
After Suzuki, Reno launched an automatic version of its Tribar, ‘Tribar ATM’. This is the first time in a regular and dual tone and is an advanced version of the pre-existing hatchback. Apart from this, the company also saw a glimpse of electric hatchback Zoe and short distance last mile mobility vehicle Twizy on the first day.

Fear of coronovirus, Chinese seen wearing mask
The expo has seen fewer people from China due to fear of coronaviruses. Due to security, the Event Organizer Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has banned the introduction of new delegations from China. Chinese employees already present at the event are also seen wearing masks. This time, 9 big companies like Ford, BMW, Toyota, Audi, Jeep, Volvo, Lexus and Honda have not arrived at the expo. However companies like Great Wall Motors and MG are coming from China for the first time.
Expo will open for people from 7 February
Tow Expo 2020 will open to everyone on 7 February 2020. Entry here will be available from 11 am on this day and the show will close till 7 pm. On public days from 8 to 12 February 2020 the following day, the show’s timing will be from 11 am to 8 pm. The Auto Expo is being held in a total area of 2,35,000 square meters, with an indoor area of 51,000 square meters, which will see about 80 new and new versions with concept.
