Andhra Pradesh: Another big decision by Jagan, bill to abolish legislative council
AMRAVATI: The cabinet of Jagan Mohan Reddy government of Andhra Pradesh has approved the proposal to abolish the Legislative Council. YSR Congress MLA Gudivada Amarnath gave this information. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Monday, 27 January. Let us know that the special session of the assembly is starting from today itself.
Naidu’s party will boycott the session
The special session of the assembly is going to start today after the cabinet meeting. In this session, the abolition of the Legislative Council will be discussed. According to sources, former state Chief Minister and legislators of TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu have decided to boycott the assembly session.
On Sunday, Naidu held a meeting with his legislators. In which it was decided that 21 party MLAs will boycott the session.
This is why Jagan Mohan wants to end the Legislative Council :
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council has 58 members. Jagan Mohan Reddy is undoubtedly the key to the power of the state, but Chandrababu’s party has a majority in the Upper House i.e. the Legislative Council. There are 27 MLAs of TDP and nine of YSR Congress.
Jagan’s ambitious proposal with three capitals in the Legislative Council has received a setback. In this regard, when the Bill was introduced in the Legislative Council, TDP sent it to the Select Committee. Because of which this project of his was hanged.
Currently these states have a Legislative Council :
Currently, there are legislative councils in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
