She launches a petition for merchants to keep their toilets accessible to customers

A delivery woman with intestinal illness inspired the launch of a petition to convince traders to keep their washrooms accessible to customers during these times of lockdown.

“It’s humiliating […] Going to the bathroom is not a whim, “says Marie-Ève Dubuc, 40 years old.

The subject is delicate, but she is ready to break the taboo: she is awaiting a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. She often has sudden fits and forces him to go to the bathroom urgently.

She makes deliveries for Doordash for short periods. He sometimes has to travel from the Mauricie to the Outaouais for an appointment with an orthopedist.

Her life has therefore become more complicated since the pandemic, with many businesses having reduced or closed access to their bathrooms. The Journal has also toured the major banners to find out their policy on the subject (see other text).

“I can no longer go to places where they refuse to accommodate me […] I have to plan my trips around that. ”

“We are in the process of taking away some of our dignity,” said Julie Houle-Serwantynski. She was the one who launched the petition a week ago, shocked by the situation Marie-Ève Dubuc is going through. Nearly 400 people signed it on Friday.

Denied to a girl

This is the case of Valérie Gravel Dubois, a resident of Mascouche who says she was denied access to a Tim Hortons bathroom for her 4-year-old daughter last November.

She was picking up her injured partner from the Saint-Jérôme hospital and had just taken the car order when the girl had an urgent urge to pee. She finally had to defecate outside.

“She was crying,” her mother said. “She didn’t understand why she was being denied this.”

For many workers who have to spend their day in their vehicle, the problem is everyday.

“The worst story I have heard is a truck driver who defected at the door of a cafe because he was no longer able to hold back”, illustrates Stéphane Lavoie, regional director at the ‘Association of Professional Truck Drivers of Quebec.

“For a man it’s less worse [parce qu’il peut uriner dehors]He said. “But there are more and more women driving trucks.”

Protect employees

In general, businesses try to keep their washrooms open, says Jean-François Belleau of the Retail Council of Canada. The catch is that the employees sometimes are the same as the public.

“It can’t be mixed. The CNESST asks employers to protect their employees, ”explains Mr. Belleau.

For its part, the Ministry of Transport explains that it cannot force private businesses to allow road users access to their toilets.

Fortunately, the service areas and rest areas managed by the MTQ are still accessible and the maintenance frequency has been increased, congratulates Marc Cadieux, president of the Association du camionnage du Québec.

Still, for Stéphane Lavoie, these stops are not numerous enough to meet demand and cover the territory. Their absence is particularly problematic in large cities, underlines Mr. Lavoie.

Where can we still go to the bathroom?

Finding a washroom that is open to the public can sometimes be a game of chance these days as access varies greatly from branch to branch, even at some large chains.

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons restaurants continue to allow their patrons to use washrooms in order-to-go places, the media relations team said. A “guest” who is refused can call 1-888-601-1616 to have Tim Hortons review the situation.

Starbucks

If the dining room is closed, the washrooms are closed to customers, except for emergency responders in uniform.

Costco and Walmart

In supermarkets such as Costco and Walmart, the toilets dedicated to the public are always open, assures Jean-François Belleau of the Retail Council of Canada.

Groceries

At IGA, toilets are always accessible in the majority of supermarkets, indicates Anne-Hélène Lavoie, spokesperson for Sobeys.

In general, large grocery stores have kept their toilets open, explains Mr. Belleau. They are more likely to be closed in neighborhood grocery stores or when there is only one bathroom.

Gas stations

The situation varies from one branch to another, in particular because stations of the same banner can be managed by different operators.

Road stops

The service areas managed by Transports Québec and rest areas open year-round are always accessible. Their list exists on Quebec 511.

At the time of publication, McDonald’s, Metro and Couche-Tard had not responded to questions from Newspaper.

Nerf’s new blasters curve their shots a la Angelina Jolie in Wanted

Nerf’s got a new trick up its sleeve: Hasbro’s latest foam-flinging sidearms can curve their shots, possibly letting you hit targets you can’t even see. (Think Angelina Jolie or James McAvoy in Wanted but with bouncy balls instead of bullets.)

That’s because each of Nerf’s three new Rival Curve blasters has an adjustable barrel you can twist to change the angle of your shot: left or right to shoot around corners, up to shoot straight, or down to lob balls over cover.

Feeling skeptical? I would also be looking at this CG, especially considering MythBusters all but proved you can’t bend a real-life bullet over a decade ago. But you actually can curve toy projectiles like these foam balls. In fact, companies like Hasbro have already been doing it for years to increase their accuracy and range.

When Hasbro first introduced its Rival lineup in 2015, it borrowed a feature popularized in airsoft guns called a “hop-up” — a nub that puts a backspin on the ball as it leaves the barrel, making it float in the air. It’s known as the Magnus effect.

Normally, a hop-up is designed to make a ball hop, well, up, but the Nerf community has long known you can simply twist a hop-up to curve your shots instead. Here’s Out of Darts demonstrating that in 2016 (skip to 2:40 to be thoroughly convinced):

Here, that twistable hop-up is coming to official blasters you can buy for between $15 and $30, including a single-shot pistol called the Flex; a neat bolt-action blaster with a 12-round internal magazine called the Sideswipe; and, best of all, a 20-round hopper-fed, pump-action blaster called the Helix, which has a genuine lip on its pump grip to keep your hands from sliding off, something that’s pretty dang rare in Nerf.

Just know that you’re likely sacrificing a good bit of range to get that curve. An early demo on YouTube suggests it might be a pretty shallow curve to start. You may need a strong wind to get results like Hasbro is imagining in the image atop this post.

Here are the full details on each new blaster, straight from Hasbro. The first two will arrive in March, with the Helix set to be a Target-exclusive blaster in the US starting this August.

Travel reimbursement: a couple wins their case against Transat

A couple from Rimouski who had to cancel their trip due to the pandemic just won their case in Small Claims Court against Transat Tours Canada and Air Transat.

• Read also: All developments in the COVID-19 pandemic

The tour operator must reimburse the sum of $ 4,868 for a planned trip to the Dominican Republic.

The lawyer for Transat Tours Canada alleged that this was a case of force majeure and that forcing the tour operator and the airline to reimburse the cost of the trip would cause him serious harm.

The Court of Quebec judge, Denis Paradis, concludes that “… the Tribunal has no proof that Air Transat and Transat Tours Canada were unable to reimburse the claimants.”

“The Tribunal has no evidence yet that this reimbursement would cause them serious inconvenience.”

Thousands of Quebecers are waiting for a refund for a trip canceled due to the pandemic, class actions have even been filed in the Superior Court of Quebec to force airlines and tour operators to reimburse their customers in money and not just in travel credit .

The CEO and co-founder of Volenretard.ca is delighted with such a judgment, but does not believe that it could set a precedent “In the case of small claims it is often on a case by case basis, obviously if it begins to exist. many cases the carriers could decide to pay in advance because there is a cost to transport them to be represented in court ”explains Jacob Charbonneau.

Sony’s flagship noise-canceling headphones are back down to their lowest price yet

If you’ve found yourself wanting some peace and quiet, whether it’s from the upstairs neighbor’s kid stomping around above you or just to silence other distractions, today’s marquee deal has your name written all over it. The Sony WH-1000XM4 are $72 off at Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers — matching the lowest price yet that we’ve seen happen a few times now. We first saw this price drop occur during Prime Day last October, and it went on to become one of the most popular deals of 2020.

This model is almost identical to the previous generation (WH-1000XM3), with its similarly sublime audio quality and noise cancellation effect. What’s new in this set, though, is a sensor that automatically pauses music when you remove them, then resumes when you put them back on. It also has improved voice quality and, perhaps the biggest improvement, support for two simultaneous Bluetooth connections.

Image: Aukey

Apple’s USB-C 20W wall adapter costs $19, but you don’t have to pay that much to get the fastest-possible charging speeds for your iPhone. Aukey’s 20W USB-C wall charger is $7.69 at Amazon (usually $13) right now. You’ll need your own USB-C cord (either one that ends in USB-C if you own an iPad Pro or the latest iPad Air, or USB-C to Lightning for all iPhones). Of course, this is also a nice, affordable option that’s suitable for any USB-C device, be it an Android phone or a Nintendo Switch.

Ben Affleck & Ana De Armas Split: How Their Different Priorities Pulled Them Apart — Report

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas’ pandemic relationship lasted nearly a year before they called it quits when they had to make some important decisions about their lives.

Ben Affleck, 48, and Ana de Armas, 32, ended their romance when the two realized that they wanted different things. After dating for almost a year when the COVID-19 pandemic had people in lockdown most of the time, the actor and actress reportedly decided to go their separate ways when work picked up and they had to address some important terms.

“The quarantine was unique because they had downtime and really got to know each other spending time at home,” a source told The Post. “But once work picked up, things started to change.”

Ana just signed on to star in The Gray Man, a film also starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, and Ben is starring in George Clooney’s adaptation of the book The Tender Bar.

Before their breakup, Ben and Ana were spotted out in public several times throughout most of 2020. They went on strolls while walking pets and even hung out with Ben’s kids, Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Sam, 8, who he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 48. They also went on coffee runs and showed off PDA almost every time before their split was reported this week.

Rumors of their split first started when they didn’t spend the holidays together. Ana went back to Cuba, where her family is. She also has a home there and that’s part of the reason she and Ben couldn’t make it work. “She’s here for work reasons; like all actors, she lives wherever work takes her,” one of Ana’s friends said, according to Page Six.

“Ana decided she doesn’t want to live in LA and Ben wants to be close to his family,” a source also told the outlet. “His priority is to be rooted in LA. They are in different places [in their lives].”

Another reason for the split involved having a future family. Ana wants to someday have children of her own while a source said Ben doesn’t want more kids, Page Six also reported. “Ben is not in a place to start a new family,” the source explained. “Both he and Ana have three jobs lined up. His family has, and will continue to be, his focus.”

Ben and Ana first met on the set of the film Deep Water, which was filmed in 2019 and were spotted together shortly after. Some of their first public outings included trips to Cuba and Costa Rica.

HollywoodLife has reached out to Ben and Ana’s reps for comment but we have yet to hear a response.

RHOA star Kenya Moore and husband Marc Daly are ending their marriage for a second time… as they plan to ‘amicably’ co-parent daughter Brooklyn

Kenya Moore and Marc Daly tried to make it work — more than once.

But the couple have decided to split again after three-and-a-half-years of marriage and 16-months since their first breakup.

Daly announced he was ending his marriage with the 49-year-old Real Housewives Of Atlanta star for the second time in a statement released exclusively to The Root on Saturday, January 23.

Split again! Marc Daly announced he and Kenya Moore have decided to end their marriage, in a statement to The Roots on Saturday, January 23

‘After recently attending mediation, Kenya and I have agreed to end our marriage,’ Daly’s statement began.

‘I will always have great care for her and look forward to amicably continuing to co-parent our daughter Brooklyn with an abundance of love and wisdom.’

The banker-turned-restauranteur, 50, went on to reveal that he intends to focus much of attention now to helping the underserved and people of color in his Brooklyn community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

A source told Us Weekly back in October 2019 that Daly ‘had multiple affairs’ during his relationship with the beloved reality star.

The former couple's split comes 16-months since their first breakup; they are pictured with daughter Brooklyn in  a post during more happier times in November 2020

The pair got married in a private ceremony in June 2017, and welcomed Brooklyn, two, in November 2018.

It was just 10-months later, in September 2019, when they separated for the first time.

‘It is with profound sadness that I regret to inform my fans that I am divorcing my husband, Marc Daly,’ Moore told Us Weekly at the time.

‘Due to recent and ongoing circumstances, I can no longer continue in the marriage. My sole concern and focus is and will always be my daughter, Brooklyn, my miracle baby. She was made in love and true commitment. I ask for our privacy to be respected moving forward.’

On the move: Moore has not yet publicly addressed the split, but she did share a video clip on Saturday of herself and Brooklyn boarding a private jet

Justin Bieber reflects on past DUI and urges fans to forgive their own mistakes

Justin Bieber was in a reflective mood on Saturday as he cast his mind back seven years to the day he was arrested.

The 26-year-old went through a difficult phase in his late teens where he was involved in a number of high profile scandals including the incident which saw him cuffed by cops and lead away – while paparazzi snapped away.

Since then, the chart topping Canadian has gone on to clean up his act and is now a more grounded, married man.

Saturday marked seven years since Justin saw himself shamed by his own actions when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Justin Bieber reflected on his past legal struggles in a candid Instagram update

Sharing a pap shot from that day via Instagram, Justin wrote: “7 years ago today I was arrested, not my finest hour.

“Not proud of where I was at in my life. I was hurting, unhappy, confused, angry, mislead, misunderstood and angry at god..”

Poking fun at his attire during his arrest, he went on: “I also wore too much leather for someone in Miami.”

Justin – who is famously an attendee of Christian church, Hillson – continued: “All this to say God has brought me a long way.

Justin was arrested in Miami, Florida, in January 2014

“From then til now I do realize something.. God was as close to me then as he is right now. My encouragement to you is to ‘let your past be a reminder of how far god has brought you.”

Sharing an optimistic outlook, he preached to followers that they should forgive themselves for their mistakes.

He urged: “Don’t allow shame to ruin your ‘today’ let the forgiveness of Jesus take over and watch your life blossom into all that God has designed you to be. LOVE YOU GUYS WITH MY WHOLE HEART.”

The year 2014 was a difficult one for Justin as he also made headlines following a spat with a neighbour – who accused the star of causing thousands of dollars of damage to their property after throwing eggs at the home.

Justin has turned his life around over the past few years

His January 23rd arrest in Miami sparked a petition which over 270,000 Americans signed, urging then president Barack Obama to deport the pop singer back to his native Canada.

Trouble followed him outside the USA – with a second arrest in September that year over dangerous driving an assault.

Other incidents over the years included fury over reports he abandoned a pet monkey in Germany in 2013, and the same year he was accused of peeing in a mop bucket in a nightclub.

Rihanna Wants A$AP Rocky To Be Her ‘Final Boyfriend’: Their Romance Is ‘Amazing Right Now’

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are ‘very happy together’ and have ‘so much in common’, according to sources who spoke EXCLUSIVELY to HL.

It looks like things between Rihanna, 32, and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky, 32, are going great. The singer and rapper, who turned their longtime friendship into romance last year, celebrated Christmas together in her home base of Barbados before recently attending a dinner date in New York City, and it turns out their romance works due to a number of factors, including their compatibility and number of mutual friends.

Rihanna and Rocky are so good. Their vacation together couldn’t have been better,” a source EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife. “The level of attention their relationship gets is intense, so they’ve been trying to play it pretty low key, but they’re still very happy together.”

Before their recent dinner, RiRi and Rocky attended YAMS Day, which was started by Rocky in honor of his late friend A$AP YAMS, who died at the age of 26 back in 2015. “Rihanna was with him this week on YAMS Day. That was Rocky’s best friend, but Rihanna knew him too,” the source explained. “She’s very much a part of Rocky’s inner circle. His friends are her friends, and her friends are his friends. It’s just one of the reasons this is such a great fit.”

Rihanna, who can be seen in a recent Fenty Beauty promo video below, is also serious when it comes to dating and wants Rocky to be her “final boyfriend”. “Rihanna falls in love fast with who she dates as she really wants her current boyfriend to be her final boyfriend,” a second insider EXCLUSIVELY told us. “She only has vibes for who she is dating and no one can ever break that but the person she is dating and as of right now her relationship with A$AP is solid.”
“Rihanna has dealt with it all from good to great to bad relationships they way things are strolling along is looking very special,” the insider further explained. “The fact that they have the same job per se and many similar friends has made things really work out because they have so much in common. Ri is really all about ASAP, things are just amazing right now. She is in very bright spirits.”

Kristin Cavallari & Ex Jay Cutler Reunite For Pic As She Alludes To What Would Have Been Their 10th Anniversary

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are off to a friendly 2021. The exes got together for a photo where she cryptically wrote about ’10 years,’ even now they’re just co-parents.

Kristin Cavallari sure gave fans something to talk about on Fri. Jan. 22, when she shared an Instagram photo together with her soon to be ex-husband Jay Cutler , 37. The former reality star and the retired NFL quarterback announced they were divorcing in Apr. 2020, with the split becoming contentious at times. But from how the mother and father of three appear in the new photo, Kristin and Jay are doing just fine as they enter a new year as co-parents instead of being husband and wife. Kristin wrote in caption a cryptic message about “10 years. Can’t break that.”

Kristin looked sexy in a tight white tank top tied at her waistline. The 34-year-old stood confidently with her arms crossed while leaning into seated Jay’s left side. He looked ruggedly handsome in a black, grey and white plaid shirt, with his arm reaching out to snap the selfie of the former couple. Both had upbeat expressions on their faces.

“The world is full of users. 10 years. Can’t break that,” the Uncommon James founder cryptically wrote in the caption. The couple got engaged in Apr. 2011 after a whirlwind eight month romance where the then-Chicago Bears quarterback had sought out The Hills star for a date.

Kristin said in a 2013 A Drink With interview that Jay had reached out to her in 2009, but she didn’t act on it until 2010. “I will tell you what really happened. I got a call from my publicist that Jay wanted to fly me out to Chicago and take me out. I didn’t know who he was! I had to google him,” she said. “I was in the middle of filming The Hills, so I was like, ‘I don’t want a boyfriend in Chicago,’ and passed on it.”

“A year later I was here visiting my mom, and we ended up going to a preseason game. I had forgotten all about it, and my mom said, ‘Didn’t Jay Cutler ask you out?’ Long story short, I ended up meeting him, and when he walked in, I was like, ‘Oh my goodness!’ I thought he was really cute.”

Despite their Apr. 2011 engagement, they broke up three months later, only to get back together in Oct. 2011 and get re-engaged the following month. So maybe “10 years” in Kristin’s caption is how they’re looking at the year 2021, as 10 years ago in 2011 is when things all finally came together for the pair through their romance ups and downs. They also conceived their first child at the end of 2011, as they welcomed son Camden Jack on August 8, 2012.

Jay and Kristin married in June 2013, and went on to have two more children, son Jaxon Wyatt, 6, and daughter Saylor James, 5. Their union showed some cracks during her E! reality show Very Cavallari, and the pair made a joint announcement in Apr. 2020 that they were divorcing.  While Kristin was spotted kissing comedian Jeff Dye during a Mexican getaway in Dec. 2020, and Jay has been spending friendly time with KC’s close pal Shannon Ford, 27, the pair are first and foremost loving co-parents to their three kids. Like K-Cav says, “Can’t break that!”

Nightmare of COVID-19 in Los Angeles: They lose their young father and then no funeral home accepts the body | The State

Melitón Cervantes began to show symptoms of COVID-19 the first day of December, after one of her three children had possibly been infected at the supermarket where she worked.

The father of the Pomona family, in eastern Los Angeles County, was severely affected. “He started hallucinating, talking when none of us was talking to him., saying that he couldn’t see us even with his eyes open, ”his daughter Ericka told local channel ABC7.

The man was hospitalized on December 11 and things went from bad to worse for him despite being young (51 years old). His overweight and a suffering from sleep apnea played against him.

After 15 days in intensive care connected to a ventilator, Melitón Cervantes died without his family being able to say goodbye to him in person. A real disgrace.

The other misfortune came later: his widow and children, who had also been infected but recovered from the virus, it took weeks to find a funeral home to receive the body.

“We are tired and dealing with the passing of my father. Then having to deal with finding a funeral, ”Ericka Cervantes told ABC7.

In all of Los Angeles County, funeral homes and hospitals are experiencing a saturation due to excess bodies. The authorities even authorized the increase in cremations.

This Friday, 9,277 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Los Angeles County and 262 deaths.

Cervantes revealed that the family had been searching for a funeral home throughout the region for weeks, but they were always told they were full.

Someone explained to him that one of the reasons for not receiving his dad’s body was that died in a hospital and the body was refrigerated, contrary to many cases of deaths in nursing homes or houses.

Almost a month after the death, the Cervantes family finally found a place with availability, although 40 miles from where they live, according to the report. A GoFundMe page to help with related expenses was started.

Ericka Cervantes’ message seems redundant, but it does not lose importance for that: wear a mask, maintain social distance and take the coronavirus seriously.

“It doesn’t just happen to people 65 and older.”
