CAA “Name and shame” poster case / Allahabad High Court said – posting of accused posters interfere in privacy, Orders UP government to remove all posters before March 16

Prayagraj The Allahabad High Court on Monday ruled in the matter of placing hoardings of accused of violence during protests of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The court has directed the government to remove the hoardings. The court has ordered the Lucknow DM and Commissioner to give an affidavit before 16 March. In fact, the state government had installed hoardings of people who had damaged public property in the December 19 violence in Lucknow. High Court Chief Justice Govind Mathur took suo motu cognizance in this matter. Despite the leave, a bench of Chief Justice Mathur and Justice Ramesh Sinha heard it on Sunday. The bench had said – the government’s action to put up posters of alleged anti-CAA protesters is highly unjust. It is a violation of the freedom of the people concerned.
