Uttar Pradesh: Several feared missing after boat overturns in Chandauli
As many as six people returning to Maheji village in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh are missing after their boat overturned in the Ganga river.

The incident took place near Maheji village under Dheena police station limits on Saturday evening. Several residents of the Maheji village were returning home from Ghazipur when their boat overturned. Locals then alerted the district administration and rescue efforts were launched to prevent loss of life.
A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been rushed to the spot from Varanasi and heavy police deployment is being seen in the district. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police have also left for the spot.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also observing the situation and has ordered senior officials to act swiftly and initiate rescue operations without wasting precious time. More details are awaited as this is a developing story.
