RTI disclosed: Government owes Rs 822 crore to Air India VVIP Chartered flights
- 9.67 crores for transportation of foreign guests and Rs. 12.65 crores owed to the government during rescue operations.
- Air India has reported that till March 2019, there is an outstanding of Rs 526.14 crore for tickets issued on credit to government officials.
New Delhi: The government has given Rs 822 crore to Air India for VVIP chartered flights services availed till November 2019. Has not paid Apart from this, rescue operations amounted to Rs. On Wednesday, under the Right to Information (RTI), airlines gave this information to retired commander Lokesh Batra. Air India VVIP provides airlines to the President, Vice President and Prime Minister under Chartered Flights services.
In fact, Commander Batra had sought details of dues from Air India on VVIP chartered flights as well as various government officials. He had asked the airlines to provide information about the dues with the government along with bills and invoices.
The amount of tickets issued on credit is also outstanding
Air India has reported that till March 2019, Rs. 526.14 crore has been released for tickets issued on credit to government officials. Is outstanding. Of this, Rs 236.16 crore. Has not been paid for the last three years. There is no possibility of recovery of money, but Rs 281.82 crore on this outstanding amount. An accounting charge of Rs. Recently, Air India refused to issue tickets on credit to government agencies for non-payment of dues.
The government has announced the sale of Air India.
At the same time, the government has already announced the sale of 100% stake in Air India. The government has invited bids till 17 March. As per the terms, the buyer will have to take responsibility for the loan of only Rs 23,286.5 crore from Air India. The airline has a total debt of Rs 60,000 crore. That is, the government will bear the burden of debt of about Rs 37,000 crore. The buyer will also be assigned management control of Air India.
