To help citizens overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus, the government began issuing the first $ 1,200 stimulus check since mid-April.
This check was part of the CARES Act, which was passed in late March. Since then, Democratic and Republican lawmakers have tried to pass a second stimulus package, but without reaching an agreement until now.
Due to this lack of progress, a bipartisan group known as the Problem Solvers Caucus was formed, which is made up of 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans, which aims to push for the approval of another stimulus package as soon as possible.
For this, they presented a proposal to inject $ 2 billion dollars into the country’s economy through financial support to small businesses, schools and the unemployed, as well as distributing more stimulus checks to people who qualify, as reported in Forbes .
The proposed amount for a new stimulus check is the same as the first, which would be $ 1,200, with an additional $ 500 per dependent.
However, what stands out most in this proposal is that it also the delivery of a third stimulus check is being included, which, if approved, would begin shipping in March 2021, if the country’s economic circumstances warrant it.
Although it seems unlikely lawmakers will reach an agreement before the November election, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that wants the House to stay in session until they agree on a second stimulus package.
