Wilfried Zaha said being made Crystal Palace skipper inspired his two-goal demolition of Manchester United.
Zaha’s brace against his old club maintained the Eagles’ 100 per cent start to the season, with the forward relishing being handed the captain’s armband by manager Roy Hodgson.
“Being captain for the side, especially at Old Trafford, I’m buzzing we managed to get the three points,” said Zaha.
“I feel like we’ve got so much quality in the team, we just need to put it on the pitch.
“Before the game, I was telling the team, ‘Believe in yourselves, don’t be scared to play your game’.
“Obviously, we showed it, and I’m not surprised by the two games that we have managed to win.
“We know what Manchester United can do, but we wanted to impose ourselves on the game.
“We’ve got so much pace and attacking threat in the team – we just wanted to utilise it from the beginning.”
The Eagles’ win at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ came after they edged Southampton to a 1-0 win on the opening day of the season.

Zaha scored the winner in that match, volleying home from Andros Townsend’s cross, and appears to be rejuvenated in Palace colours despite hinting at an exit from the club last month.
The 27-year-old was seen pointing at a neon sign which said ‘Zaha to Arsenal’ after Hodgson admitted the player had openly expressed his desire to leave at the end of last season.
“Wilf has made it clear ever since I came to the club, really, that he would like to move on and find some pastures new,” Hodgson said after the 1-1 draw with Tottenham on the final day.
“But of course he is a very valuable player and the club realises his value.
“Everything will depend on what sort of offers the club receives for him. Or maybe we satisfy his wishes and allow him to go after giving good service to the club for a period of time.
“Quite frankly I have no answer… it will be a matter of seeing what transpires.”
Zaha will aim to keep up his fine form as Palace welcome Everton to Selhurst Park on Saturday.
