Diogo Jota is confident he has what it takes to break into Liverpool’s first team after sealing his move from Wolves on Saturday.
The Portugal international, 23, has joined from the Reds’ Premier League rivals in a five-year deal potentially worth £45million.
The deal comes a day after the Reds signed Thiago Alcantara from European champions Bayern Munich.
The forward says he is desperate to learn from Liverpool’s famed attacking trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, and also feels he can muscle them out of the first team.
He said: “They are world-class players. Every match, they try to win. They score a lot of goals and they work together. I want to be one more piece to join that three. That’s what I will do.
“They are obviously more experienced than me, so the first stage is to connect with them, to learn with them. Hopefully I can be a good help for them and the club to win games.”
The 23-year-old Jota was left out of Wolves’ League Cup defeat by Stoke City on Thursday and was an unused substitute in their 2-0 league win over Sheffield United last weekend.
Initially arriving on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017, Jota has scored 16 goals and provided six assists for Wolves in the Premier League over the last three seasons.
He is Liverpool’s third signing of the close season following the arrivals of Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and Greece left back Kostas Tsimikas.
“It’s just a really exciting moment for me and my family,” he added.
“All of my path since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool – the world champions – is just unbelievable. I just want to get started.
“It is one of the best teams in the world – the best at the moment because they are world champions. When you look at the Premier League, you always see Liverpool as one of the biggest teams in the country, so it’s impossible to say no.
“So we just want to come [here], to give our best and hopefully I can become a good option for Liverpool in the future.”
