Bayern Munich CEO expects Thiago bid “in next few days” amid Liverpool interest

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said the club are expecting an offer for Thiago “in the next few days”.

The Spaniard is heavily linked with the exit door having made his intentions clear.

Thiago played in Bayern’s Champions League Final win last week which secured them a second treble success in seven years.

But despite his trophy-laden spell in Munich the midfielder is keen to try something new and Liverpool have been touted as his next destination.

No recent developments have been made with the Premier League season a fortnight away, but Rummenigge is expecting that to change.

Thiago is poised to leave Bayern

He told Welt Am Sonntag : “We are expecting an offer from another club in the next few days.

“He told us that at the end of his career, he would like to try something new.”

Thiago moved to Bayern in 2013, the same summer that Pep Guardiola arrived at the club, and has been a regular ever since.

He has won the Bundesliga title in every season he has been at in Munich whilst also adding the German Cup on four occasions.

Liverpool though would welcome his addition despite already having a host of midfielders on their books.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is expecting transfer activity in the coming days

Jurgen Klopp can pick from the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner.

Reports suggest the Reds and Bayern are someway apart in their valuation of Thiago however.

The German giants want around £30m for the 29-year-old, who only has one year remaining on his deal.

Liverpool though have become known for their shrewd recruitment and will no doubt try and drive down the price.

So far Kostas Tsimikas is the only new face at Anfield having arrived from Olympiakos.
