Man Utd transfer round-up: Sancho competition as Red Devils prep Bale bid

[ad_1]

Manchester United have watched the majority of their rivals begin their Premier League season, but they will have to wait a little longer to begin their campaign.

That might, though, give the Red Devils the opportunity to do more business in the transfer market.

Donny van de Beek arrived earlier in the summer and there has been talk of a late move for Bayern midfielder Thiago. And there is still hope United will be able to do a deal for their main target, Jadon Sancho.

Here we’ve taken a look at all the latest transfer rumours from Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho remains Man Utd’s top transfer target this summer

United consider Bale deal

United are ready to offer Gareth Bale an escape from Real Madrid having lost patience in the Sancho saga, according to the Sun.

The proposed deal would be an initial one-year loan, with a view to extending the Welshman’s stay beyond the end of the season.

The 31-year-old currently has two years left on his £650,000-per-week contract at the Bernabeu.

Man Utd are considering a Gareth Bale transfer move

Real Madrid would reportedly demand a fee of £18.5m for a permanent transfer, and Bale would have to agree to a pay cut.

Borussia Dortmund’s reluctance to sell Sancho appears to have put United off, while Bale’s Premier League experience makes him an attractive prospect for Solskjaer.

United could face more competition for Sancho next summer

There are growing concerns at United that Sancho could be on the radar of other clubs if he is still at Dortmund next summer.

ESPN claim Solskjaer has not given up hope of signing the 20-year-old, but United are still not prepared to pay the €120 million asking price.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

However, they have so far failed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund and are considering Gareth Bale as an alternative.

The Red Devils are considering waiting a season for Sancho, although there is likely to be interest from other European heavyweights such as Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid next summer.

United currently have an advantage because their financial situation following the pandemic is better than most of their rivals.

But it is likely to be a different story next summer, which explains the urge to get the Sancho deal over the line soon.

Reguilon on the radar

United want to sign Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon before the close of the transfer window, according to Marca.

Negotiations have started with the Spanish champions over a deal for the 23-year-old, who impressed last season on loan at Sevilla.

Sergio Reguilon is on Man Utd’s radar but has since been linked with Spurs

United hope to buy Reguilon outright, but Los Blancos intend to have a buy-back clause which would allow them to re-sign the defender after one or two seasons.

He is below Marcelo and Ferland Mendy in the pecking order at Madrid, and United are looking to take advantage of his availability.

Reguilon is expected to cost around €25m and has also been linked with a move to Tottenham.
