Even as Suresh Raina pulled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, citing ‘personal reasons’, a section of fans seem to be wondering who will be the deputy for MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings. Raina returned to India after the mandatory 6-day quarantine period in Dubai, leaving the cricket fraternity stunned.
On Wednesday, a CSK fan took to social media to question the franchise over the absence of a vice-captain for IPL 2020, which will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. CSK, as usual, came up with a cheeky response.

Suresh Raina, on Wednesday, said he has not ruled out the chances of returning to the UAE and joining the CSK camp while maintaining that he is working out during his quarantine in India. Raina denied rumours of rife in the CSK camp and conceded the mandatory isolation period and the Covid-19 concerns did play in his mind. Notably, Raina’s uncle and cousin were killed in an attack in Pathankot, Punjab before the cricketer left the CSK camp and returned to the country.
Raina had urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to probe the incident after which a Special investigation Team (SIT) was set by the state government to probe the attack on relatives of cricketer.
Meanwhile, CSK boss N Srinivasan said he had treated Raina like his ‘son’ but maintained that it was not his domain, when asked if Raina will be able to return to the CSK set-up, provided the cricketer decides in favour of it.
Srinivasan’s comment came after Raina said he might be seen with the CSK camp in IPL 2020.
“I’ve been training even while quarantining here. You never know you might see me in the camp there again,” Raina had told Cricbuzz.
