Punjab-based NGO files petition seeking ban on ALTBalaji’s XXX and other shows with obscenity
Punjab-based NGO gave an example of ALTBalaji’s series XXX and asked a ban on web series with objectionable content.
Punjab based NGO Public Jagriti Mission, in a petition moved in a Chandigarh court, has sought a ban and a mechanism to regulate the content of the web series streaming on various OTT platforms. Baljeet Singh, the petitioner said that many films and web series were launched during the lockdown period. The content served on OTT through these series were objectionable, obscene, replete with nudity and are spoiling the young minds and the society as a whole.
Citing the content of ALTBalaji’s XXX Season 2 series, the petitioner has accused Ekta Kapoor and her company for disrespecting the national emblem, the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers, depicting their families in a wrong manner and sending wrong messages to the society.
The petition said that ALTBalaji’s XXX Season 2 where they have shown the life of ‘families of army men in a very wrong manner’.
“Ekta Kapoor, founder of ALTBalaji Telefilms has not only shown a lady tearing off the army uniform but the show has also sent a wrong message in the society that army men or wives of army men do not possess good moral character,” the petition said.
The scene in the web series, the petition said, shows uniformed Indian army personnel in the utmost objectionable manner and also shows disrespect to the national emblem.
“Army personnel have been hurt by such scenes and various army personnel have criticised the web series” he said.
The petitioner said that no citizen or a production house has the right to misuse army units and national emblems. He said that they are willing to do anything for earning money and have no love, affection or any respect towards the army.

The NGO has also raised an objection to Ekta Kapoor’s company’ name, which has Balaji in its name. They said that the defendants are producing the video and films contrary to the sacred name of the production house simply to earn profits.And, have no concern with the damage being caused to the moral character of the society.
The petition said that the erotic shows are being produced under the name of sacred God Shri Balaji which is also hurting the religious sentiments of the people.
The petition further said that the defendants have been promoting obscenity which is ruining youthful minds of the country.
“The web series being produced by the defendants are affecting the mindset of spouses living separately especially during this lockdown period” the petition said.
India Today tried to contact Balaji Telefilms but the officials were not available for the comment.
Earlier, Hindustani Bhau had filed a complaint against Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor for disrespecting the Indian Army. The mentioned episode of XXX has been removed from the OTT platform and Ekta also apologised to the Indian Army. However, looks like the issue seems to be far from over.
