Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
On 13 April 1919, on Baisakhi, a meeting was held at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Even after curfew was imposed in the city, hundreds of people were involved in it. Some of the leaders were speakers. Due to the festival of Baisakhi, people also came from outside to visit the fair and the city. On the other hand, in Jallianwala Bagh, the crowd of people was constantly increasing. Meanwhile, Brigadier General Michael O Dyer reached there with 90 British soldiers. They all had rifles loaded in their hands.

A total of 1650 rounds were fired in 10 minutes. Jallianwala Bagh was surrounded on all sides, there was no way to escape or save lives. Sardar Shaheed Udham Singh was born on 26 December 1899 in Sunam village in Sangrur district, Punjab. His mother had died within two years of his birth and the father had also died at the age of eight. After this he spent a lot of time with his elder brother in an orphanage in Amritsar. However, after the death of his elder brother in 1917, he was left alone. In 1919, he left the orphanage and joined the freedom movement. During this time, the incident of Jallianwala Bagh decreased. After this, the only purpose of his life was the death of General Dyer. For this, they had to wait for the right time for 21 years.

London arrived in hiding in 1934
Udham Singh changed his name to travel to Africa, Nairobi, Brazil and the United States to punish General Dyer. In the year 1934, Udham Singh reached London and resided there at 9, Elder Street Commercial Road. There he also bought a car and a revolver with six bullets. Now only the right time was waiting. This right time came after six years. On 13 March 1940, the Royal Central Asian Society had a meeting at Caxton Hall, London, 21 years after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Michael O Dyer was also involved as a speaker here. Udham Singh knew that it would not be a good time to see him again. So they also reached the meeting on time. He found a unique way to hide his revolver.

He cut the pages of a thick book in such a way that the revolver could be easily hidden in it. He reached the meeting with this. After the meeting, Udham Singh got a chance and fired shots at Michael O Dyer, while taking a front from behind the wall. Dyer got hit by two bullets and died there. After this incident, he had a chance to escape but he did not do so and allowed himself to be arrested easily. He wanted the world to recognize the work of General Dyer. After his arrest, he was tried and he was hanged on 4 June. He was hanged in Pentonville Jail on 31 July 1940. Udham Singh grew up and participated in the freedom movement while in India. At times, he managed to dodge the British government by throwing dust in the eyes of the British.
