“Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) is an unlawful organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, a Home Ministry spokesman said. On the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) issued orders to block 40 websites of SFJs under Section -69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. “
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) is the nodal authority to monitor cyberspace in India. Last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs had banned the SFJ for its alleged anti-national activities. The SFJ had emphasized the Sikh referendum, 2020, as part of its separatist agenda. Another official said that this organization openly supports the creation of Khalistan and in doing so, challenges India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On July 1, nine people associated with the separatist Khalistani organization were declared terrorists under the UAPA by the Home Ministry. Four of these people are in Pakistan. These people are associated with various terrorist organizations. They include Wadhwa Singh Babbar, the kingpin of Babbar Khalsa International, Lakhbir Singh heading the International Sikh Youth Federation, Ranjit Singh heading the Khalistan Zindabad Force and Paramjit Singh heading the Khalistan Commando Force. All four are in Pakistan.
The Home Ministry said that these nine people are operating from Pakistan and other countries and are involved in various activities of terrorism. According to the ministry, “They are constantly engaged in their nefarious plans to destabilize the country by engaging in their anti-national activities and pro-Khalistan activities.”
