The more water you drink, the more your body benefits. This is why doctors recommend drinking plenty of water throughout the day. But at the same time you must have heard that one should not drink water with food, because doing so can have a negative effect on health. In Ayurveda, drinking water immediately after eating has been described as extremely bad.

It is said in Ayurveda that drinking water immediately after eating is equivalent to drinking poison, because it directly affects your digestive system and if the digestive system is not well, then a person can have many diseases.

Actually, the food we eat is digested by going to the jathagni situated on the left side of the navel. Gastritis prevails after eating food for one hour. Drinking water immediately after eating food calms down the stomach, which directly affects digestion. Therefore it is advisable to always drink water after some time of eating. Aryuveda says that the food we eat helps in digestion, but if water is drunk on eating, it cools down and the food is not properly digested.

In such a situation, the digestive system is weakened by drinking water immediately while eating food, as well as you may have many problems ranging from gas to chest irritation. It is also said in Ayurveda that drinking water immediately after eating can also cause skin diseases.
