Amit Shah said – wont take CAA back, Congress’s Reaction, 9 lies of PM Modi and Home Minister

The Congress attacked the government over citizenship law and NRC. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal held a press conference and told 9 lies of the government regarding the citizenship law and NRC.

  • Congress termed citizenship law as divisive
  • ‘Constitution does not provide for citizenship on the basis of religion’
  • ‘For the first time religion was made the basis of citizenship’

Home Minister Amit Shah said during a rally in Lucknow on Tuesday that the opposition parties should do as much as they can, but I am saying it openly that the Citizenship Amendment Act will not be withdrawn. He said that Congress, TMC, Mayawati, SP and Communists are screaming Congress-Congress at this bill. I have introduced this bill in Parliament and I challenge that in any section of it, if there is talk of taking away the citizenship of a person, then show it. On the other hand, Congress attacked the government regarding citizenship law and NRC. Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said in a press conference that the provision of citizenship on five grounds in the constitution, religion has no basis in it. He said that for the first time in the history of the country, religion has been made the basis of citizenship and it is divisive.

Kapil Sibal said that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have spread nine lies about CAA.

First lie: PM and Home Minister said that CAA is not discriminatory. He said that there are 5 provisions for citizenship of India in the Constitution, in which there is no mention of religion anywhere. The Citizenship Act of 1955 also contains the same provisions.

Second lie: CAA has no connection with NRC. In April 2019, Amit Shah said that CAB will come first, then NRC will come. On 9 December 2019, Amit Shah spoke to the nationwide NRC after passing the CAB in the Lok Sabha. In such a situation, the association of CAA-NRC cannot be denied.

Third lie: Modi said in a rally on 22 December 2019 that there was no discussion on NRC after his government came. Whereas, in the President’s address to the Joint Session of Parliament on 20 June 2019, the NRC was said to be primarily implemented.

Fourth lie: The NRC process has neither been notified nor is it legal. This is completely untrue, because when the NRC was adopted in 2003, its article 14 (a) mentions that it is legal and that every citizen of the country has an identity card.

Fifth lie: NRC is yet to start, while NRC notification has been started from 1st April

Sixth lie: NPR has no relation with NRC. In the annual report 2018-19 of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was said that ‘NPR is the first step to implement NRC’.

Seventh lie: No Indian needs to be scared, while the family members of our former President Fakhruddin Saheb; Kargil War award winner Sanaullah Khan was not named in Assam’s NRC. Now in such a situation the name of a poor man has disappeared, what will he do?

Eighth lie: Modi said that there is no Detention Center in the country. Whereas, 988 people are imprisoned in 6 detention centers in Assam alone. January 2019 Government of India directed to set up Detention Center.

Ninth lie: No force was used against the demonstrations. 28 people died in UP alone. People’s houses were burnt, shops were burnt, people were killed by entering the houses and the BJP government is lying
