Brooke becomes the world’s first openly bisexual Bachelorette in Australia
A youth worker from Sydney, Australia is about to make history, when she becomes the first ever openly bisexual Bachelorette.
Brooke Blurton will choose from both men and women in the newest series of the long-running dating show.
She will also be the country’s first indigenous contestant, as she has Aboriginal heritage.
The 25-year-old said: “I am not too sure if Australia is ready for it. I certainly am! If it makes people feel uncomfortable in any way, I really challenge them to think about why it does.”
Brooke’s already familiar to Aussie TV fans as she was a contestant on The Bachelor in 2018.
She was one of the women vying to be chosen by former Oz rugby star Nick Cummins.
This was when she came out publicly, telling Nick:
“I’ve had four relationships… one with a guy… but I’ve also had two relationships with women.
‘When I was in those relationships, I looked beyond what they were as female and I really loved [them] for who they were as people.”
Brooke then left the Channel 10 series abruptly, but has also appeared on Bachelor In Paradise. She continued:
“’I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience.”
“I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”
Earlier this year it was rumoured that Brooke already had a girlfriend, 26-year-old singer G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Filipo.
The couple celebrated Valentine’s Day together were seen at Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival.
But now she admits: ‘I’m ready to open my heart.”
